Insomniac have outdone themselves here and have created probably the best first party Playstation game to date. Spiderman 2 is everything you loved about the original Spiderman and Miles Morales games elevated to a whole new level. The story and writing here are excellent as the prior 2 games were. The relationships, character interactions, dialogue and character arcs are some of the best in video gaming. Spiderman 2 on a story level can be compared to some of the best Spiderman movies, arguably even better than the best movies. The raw emotion in some of the cutscenes here are unmatched. You can tell the devs at Insomniac are big fans of Spidey as the level of attention to detail and care put into both Peter and Miles' character are some of the best we've seen. There is also so much here for Spidey fans in regards to references/callbacks. The gameplay is the same great stuff that worked in the first 2 games, now with just better animation. Swinging is even more fun with the addition of the Web wings. It honestly makes it hard to go back to prior Spidey games without the wings. Combat is more of the same too, just with a couple new gadgets and abilities. The most impressive thing about Spiderman 2 is that it happens to be an open world game, yet every mission here has the same effort that would be put into a linear single player game like a Naughty Dog game for example. Think of a setpiece like the Plane chapter in Uncharted 3. In Spiderman 2, every single mission has some sort of setpiece that is even more impressive than that Plane chapter. And I don't just mean main story missions either. All the side content here has the same effort the team put into the main missions. From beginning to end, Spiderman 2 presented a fresh idea at every moment and never got stale. For the whole ride I had a smile on my face. Insomniac have now taken the mantle of Sony's star developer and I cannot wait to see what they will do with their next game, Wolverine, who also happens to be my favourite superhero. The Spiderman game we've always dreamed of as a kid is finally here.

Played on: Playstation 5 Version: Playstation 5 Edition: Digital (Deluxe Edition) Platinum 🏆(#40) Insomniac has yet again made another good Spider-Man entry. Cool right? Yes & no. While it felt right at home by being back in New York, it felt as though nothing has changed (except for map size). The map is much larger & adds a lot more greenery compared to the grey aesthetic of the building skyline. But in the end, so what? The story has a very slow burn for the first half & the second half is a boss rush that hits the gas & cannot find the brakes. I must also mention that it is unbelievably bloated with it trying to shove as much lore, characters, & fan service as humanly possible. There are some really great moments throughout & some really cool set pieces. The highlight of the game is a part in which you are being chased by an evil Peter in the dark. It plays much like a horror game & is a very interesting, fresh, intense, & brilliantly executed sequence. Sadly, somehow this game feels undercooked. It's visuals feel a tiny bit downgraded (in gameplay) & the life of the city feels oddly empty. Something certainly feels like it's missing here & I hope to find what it is exactly in a future playthrough. The game is also incredibly short & most of the roughly 20 hour story (Yes, only 20 hours) is spent doing things that are VERY rinse & repeat. To put things into perspective, I got the PLATINUM in just roughly 25 hours...that is absolutely horrendous. All in all, this game is just...fine. I wanted to love it, but I will not fanboy my way to a perfect score just because I love the character. If you liked the previous entries, then you will like this. But expanding a map, throwing in new suits, & introducing fan favorites that often times feel forced doesn't cut it. I prefer the first as it is a much more condensed story that feels way more like Spider-Man than the rest. This is yet another great example that bigger doesn't always mean better. P.S. Why is it mission impossible for Insomniac to get the Raimi suit right? The web lines look like mirrors glued on his suit.. Final verdict: Wait for a sale

As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed. Its story of two Spider-Men is a great time and a Spidey fan’s dream to play through as comic book pages are brought to life, elegantly walking the tightrope between light humour and heavier themes. Meanwhile, Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights. The part that feels like it actually needed a radical rethinking is the open world of New York City, which has been made bigger but not better, with an exhausting checklist of mostly repetitious side activities. But it’s safe to call this another thrilling Spider-Man adventure that delivers Insomniac's best tale yet, and despite its open world falling short, it's a reliably fun superhero power trip. And, you know what? Screw it. It really did make me feel like Spider-Man, too.

the best Spider-Man and the best super hero game ever made. Story mode was perfect, from start to finish everything was made for fans, from the fans. The black suit was so good, Kraven was an amazing villain, Venom was terrific. Campaign made me feel so good and it was so much fun, but the side content mostly was boring other than some touching quests. It was also an unpolished game as well, lots of bugs and glitches, most of them game breaking but i know insomniac is working hard fix all of them but i still think this game could have used another year or at least a few more months before launching.

+ Plot & Characters' Story Arches and Performances are top-notch + Next-Gen "Spider-Man" simulator, with its Combat & Web-Slinging (including options for a more realistic Physics-based slinging) + Peter's and Miles' activities promote different & unique plots and insights (while adding more replayability value) + Sub-Plots, Side Characters & New York City add another layer of immersion and depth to the game's world + Visuals & Animations (especially Facial ones) are excellent + Amazing DualSense & Audio details - Stealth System (although fun) tones down the enemies' awareness element(s) too much - Side Activities, Crimes & Challenges tend to be oversimplified & short (when comparing to the previous games) - No additional or interesting post-end activities (so far...) - Considerable number of Bugs, Glitches & Crashes FINAL SCORE: 9.7 (Expectation: 9.5 - 10)

It's a solid 8. Some of the stuff they pull off is the stuff 90's & 2000's kids dream what a superhero game would be like in the future. But it is an extremely safe sequel and narratively insomniac pull a lot of punches with an underwhelming ending. But the combat never got old and this game has by far the best traversal system in any game ever bar none. Still I feel like the game could have been a bit juicer and the underwhelming end of the game kind of skews my viewpoint on whether I completely enjoyed the game or not. Still would strongly recommend just to swing and fly around for hours on end

the best spider-man has felt gameplay wise. and you can always trust insomniac for some pretty exciting setpieces. but the story is mostly bloated and underdeveloped, which is a shame. tighter writing could have made this a classic

Very good, great moments and gameplay and an overall well paced, emotional story. And for those complaining about a "lack of game" its the same length as the first one, just trimmed down (no load times, faster speed, not having to do 20 random crimes in each district, etc). Though I will say I wish there were more FNSM app missions. Having only 6 seemed weird. Also, the one dude on here saying there's no Endgame dialogue, that's literally untrue. Gonna go for the platinum. I got it Edit, this is more for me, but I think I'm going to have to lower my score a bit. The more I think about it and the more opinions I see, I feel like a decent amount of this game had wasted potential. Still very good, but almost Arkham knight level of "what the heck" decisions, but not quite that level. Would have loved a spider mobile though.

Story:1.75/2 Direction:1.5/2 Gameplay:2/2 Graphics:0.75/1 Technical:0.75/1 Sounds/sound tracks:1/1 Actings:1/1 Overall:8.75/10 Final words: the game is definitely better than its predecessor and is a Must Play. The amount of creativity in gameplay and surprises in story is unbelievable in this game. Fast travel is fantastic and side quests have improved dramatically since the pervious game back in 2018. Draw distance is fascinating and your gonna be amazed by it. Switching characters is far from perfect though, and in some side quests they get repetitive just like pervious game. In my experience there were a lot of bugs in the game and was annoying. And story has some logical issues. End of review.

Great third act and some really good conclusions and cliffhangers for the story. The gameplay is fun and updated from the last two and the story is extremely engaging, but my biggest complaint is that most of the side missions and extra stuff felt tedious and mindless. The dialogue also has more than a few moments that fell a bit flat for me due to some forcefully sappy lines and cringy jokes, but there are also some touching parts that hit hard. The animation was hyped up a ton but I honestly wasn't super impressed, especially in some scenes where it looked flat-out choppy or unfinished. It's also far too easy and extremely short, but it's still a damn fun time when you're swinging around New York, slugging enemies, and using both Spider-Men's abilities. Regardless of my gripes, I had a fun time with it and gave a lot of the glitches and subpar animation a pass considering it's only 2 days old. I would definitely recommend it to fans of Spider-Man and would highly suggest it to fans of the previous game. Played on Spectacular Mode.

Marvel‘s Spider-Man 2 is the perfect sequel that builds upon the foundations of its predecessors. The game delivers the best Spider-Man story to date, outside of the comics of course, that does justice to the characters. This doesn‘t mean that it‘s a masterpiece. There are some missed opportunities in the story that could have elevated it to one of the greatest in the market. The gameplay and traversal are in the best state they‘ve ever been. Playing as symbiote Peter feels very responsive and satisfying. The new webwings also offer a new way to traverse the city by gliding. Spider-Man 2 is a must-play for every PS5 owner and is sure to be remembered as one of the greats of this console generation.

The game is phenomenal, except for the glaring issue that is the utter lack of game. I've gotten 100% completion in 19 hours with minimal fast travel. Much of that 19 hrs was spent doing repetitive tasks. The game lacks the little extra touches that a true passion project would have. Little extra quality of life features like being able to reenter Miles and Peter's homes or replay boss fights, post game dialogue and exclusive content, more to pursue in the later stages of the game. These things just are not here and it hurts the experience. It also has a progression issue with hero tokens and skill points. There are also very weak lines of dialogue. The actors are great, but when they don't have anything strong to work off of it amounts to shallow moralizing. There are awesome story beats, amazing spectacle, but it never takes the time to really make us connect with the scale and complexity of everything going on. The urgency of the narrative also makes it less compelling to engage with much of the side content, large portions of the story make the rest of the activities unavailable. This is a glorified DLC, wait for a strong sale.

THE TRAVERSAL MASTAPEECE Traversing is just amazing in this one. I don't know why they added fast travel when you don't even need one. The web wings abitility takes Spiderman to a whole new level. Nothing beats this game in terms of performance, graphics, world design with combat that is just addictive to play. It was so good that I felt Spiderman with dualsense stuck into my hands and never let it go.This might be the first best ps5 exclusive game yet.The technical and processing power of audio design into its controller giving the best haptic feedback with everything you do. Every time the triggers tense, lock up, or relax, it’s in the service of immersion. You can feel the leaves rumble if you swing through them. Insomniac knows how to do it and they might be the best developer Sony owns. Story is what you expect a superhero game would be,its not masterpiece like the original but it's unique with dual Spiderman where you can play as Peter Parker or miles Morales. The fact that you could play as Venom in a mission is what I needed for a long time. Anyone who grew up with this franchise always had the dream to see what venom can do and this one did that. Designing this villian is masterpiece work. The best thing is each one has different style of gameplay. Pete can use gadgets at first and Symbiotes at later stages while Miles make use of that lightning ability which is immersive to play for hours and hours. The combat is perfected in every possible way with those haptic feedback. I liked it,some of the side missions are so good when you play with different characters. Its a love letter to both previous games, mixed into one giving you a new depth in storytelling, characters and much bigger world. Even if you're not doing anything, traversing is something else that can kill your time for hours and you wouldn't even feel it,its that amazing. This is the kind of game where experience is everything. Played this on 65 inch 4k in performance mode is just luxury factor and I believe this is how you play every ps5 exclusive. Story -8 Gameplay -10 Characters-9 World design -10 Graphics-10 Sound-9 Idk what's with part 2 this year,so many games have been released in this way.

Doesn't top the experience of playing the first game, but objectively the better game. Only problem for me was the pacing. Felt like the first half of the game was just a place holder for the second act until it was ready to blossom. But once you get to that second half, the story becomes incredible and makes it a must play
