Summary

I really don't care about superheroes except for the ones that used to be part of my childhood: Batman and Spider-Man. (The obvious comparison to this game is of course Rocksteady's excellent Arkham trilogy which I really enjoyed.) Insomniac's Spider-Man is a tightly packed action spectacle with just the right amount of nostalgia and only a few shortcomings.
The story is mostly good, although it could've been more focused. The characters are well-written and most of the actors do a good job. The combat is solid and traversing through Manhattan fills me with joy. They've really nailed the essence of the city and the attention to detail is very impressive. There's a fine balance between casual and challenging gameplay which I enjoyed. The open-world gives the player the choice to just explore and do easier side quests or take on more challenging missions. However some of the side missions become very repetitive towards the end.
My issues were with controls, puzzles and sneaking sections. Dodge works somewhat inconsistently and sometimes the controls are a little finicky and you end up swinging all over the place. The puzzles are a joke. They were so easy and boring that I skipped most of them. The parts were you play as MJ and Miles were also mostly unnecessary and too easy.
