Summary

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Took everything Asylum did and pushes it further, better combat, a bigger world, more threats waiting in the dark.

But maybe I played it at the wrong time, because I can’t stop comparing it to Asylum. And even though City outshines it in most ways, I still miss Asylum's atmosphere and it's eerie ambience.

Still, there’s no denying City knows how to keep you hooked. If Asylum had you locked in, City throws away the key.

This game is a love letter to Batman. The game design, from the open world, stealth, combat, gadgets, and traversal, is all woven together so perfectly that it enhances the storytelling. Batman and Joker dynamic is on the level of Alan Moore's writing (no surprise because it's Paul Dini). The side missions are so good (especially Bane and Hush) and keep you invested in various mysteries. Boss fights are super creative and full of surprises (that never gets old). While I do like Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight, both of those games have flaws that I can't overlook. Arkham City, on the other hand, is a perfect game. It's the definitive Batman game.

For someone who doesn't care about superhero genre,I got to say, this is my favorite game from that genre. In comparison to other open world games, this is the one that was done right. In other open world games, maps are too large, with not to many interesting things to do.This one got a small map,but it's filled with content,no filler,no boring side activities.Respect.That's how you do open world right.Combat just like in Asylum was fantastic, simple and effective.Every gadget you use has purpose. What I love about this game is that they took everything from Asylum and made it better.Plenty of side quests and collectibles, art designs and all that stuff.I realised how creative developers were when they decided to have Riddler for collectibles, respect for develpoers on that one.Boss fights were great, although I prefer the ones in Asylum.Best boss fight was against Mr.Frezze.12 ways of taking him down, and you got to change tactics because it won't work twice. That fight was perfection.Regular fights are good, but I personally believe that random enemies got too much hp,it takes forever to take them down.Loved the stealth sections of the game.So many ways you can approach the situations.Going through gargoyles and taking down enemies one by one never gets old.Graphics look good for 2011,Gotham atmosphere was creepy yet satisfying.Story was pretty good,Joker returns as main villain in the game, both Batman and Joker are poisoned the whole game, and it's race for the cure.Ending kinda hits different but I won't spoil it.Characters from Asylum return, and new ones as well,in addition you have 4 sections where you can play as Catwoman as well. She also got different variety of weapons she uses and different combat.Unlocking upgrades was fun,you can even play new game plus with different outfits as well.Ost was good.Still got to play Harley DLC,looking forward to it,the game is a masterpiece for sure, the only reason it's not full 10/10 for me is because I'm not into that type of genre, but in terms of gameplay it is worthy of 10.Best superhero game out there, wouldn't mind playing it again at some point.

didn’t like it. There are a lot of problems with the story—it’s weird and very, very short compared to Asylum. The boss fights are so ass and easy, especially the Clayface fight—it was the worst boss fight I’ve seen so far.

Also, I didn’t care about any character or even feel anything when Joker died. Just couldn’t give a fuck. Idk if it’s cuz of ass writing or ass acting, but I just couldn’t care. Played this game five times, I swear, just to fucking finish it. The game had potential, but I don’t know what happened—I just couldn’t like it.

The city looks so beautiful, the content is better than Asylum, even the music—literally, it’s better than Asylum in every way, but still, I didn’t like it and loved Asylum more.
