With Doom The Dark Ages quickily approaching, I decided to try and beat the previous games and DLC's before it does, to ready myself for when I get the game.

Altho the story isnt the best, and hard to follow (tbf, I'm sick, so that could have made it harder) its still a soild story, and all the OG enemies from DOOM 1 and some from DOOM 2, all updated and better looking, makes it 10x more horrifing to play. And rivals Dead Space for best Space/Hellish enemies and monsters you fight.

And the Levels are amazing, it was awesome seeimg how the levels still looked like old DOOM levels, even in a game that's so much younger.

If u want a fun, but not 100% cake walk action game, where you are Knee-Deep in the Dead, on the shores of Hell, Surounded by its Inferno, then this is the game for you. Just make sure, Thy Flesh isnt consumed.

Doom 2016 is one of the best first-person shooters I have played and quite possibly the best series reboot ever done. It takes the best aspects of the original and coats it in the modern video game design philosophies while adding elements that, since this entry, have become iconic to the series.

Visually, Doom 2016 still looks amazing; the game is set in a research base on Mars, like the original, with having some visits to hell itself quite a few times, which all look highly detailed and great. The demons especially look the best they ever did and are more detailed and well designed than what we see in Doom Eternal.

Gameplay-wise, it's all I want from a first-person shooter: great weapon variety with different mods that encourage on-the-fly switching, punchy sound design and animations that keep constant shooting entertaining, takedowns that are highly varied and satisfying to pull off, and great enemy variety that makes you learn how to tackle them individually on the fly—it's just pure chaotic fun. Besides combat, level exploration is present; at first, I got lost in one early level, but I learned to appreciate this light metroidvania design, which avoids levels from being too linear. Collectible toys are pretty cute, but other collectibles, like upgrades and lore dumps, at times are too well hidden and hinder the gameplay momentum, but secrets overall are mostly enjoyable. Would have wanted a bigger amount of bosses; the number present is too far in between and makes you forget bosses are even part of the game. Also, a few levels are reused; one specifically is annoyingly so. You clear the level, and afterwards return back to it with it just being slightly demonic, which makes you clear it out again. It felt like unnecessary padding more than anything. Some equipment, like holograms, are mostly useless, just stuck with the standard grenade instead. Multiplayer mode is there, but I barely interacted with it; single-player is the main course, and I didn't see the need for it at all.

Game is pretty light on the narrative but it does dump some decent amount of lore if you are interested to dig into it, but I do dislike some moments when you are made to stand while a villain monologues quite a few times, should have been audio calls instead. Villain is mostly forgettable but she is well acted, Samuel Hayden is a highlight providing some good commentary with such a badass voice and character design.

The soundtrack enhances the gameplay quite a lot; Mick Gordon did an amazing job creating some quality, blood-pumping tracks, which I even enjoy listening to at the gym. The way they are used in tandem with the gameplay and what you are currently doing, ramping up after you glory kill an enemy—priceless; it really gives some character to the entirety of the game.

To sum up, Doom 2016 is an excellent single-player shooter that I recommend highly; even after Eternal, the release of 2016 feels like a more grounded and gritty adventure that is still worthwhile.

HELL YEAHH🗣🗣🗣 THE ONLY THING THEY FEAR...IS YOU
GREAT GAME ADDICTIVE COMBAT probably one of the best fps games doesn't waste your time beat around the bush or do much of anything other than throw waves of enemies at
you while you run around firing away.
had so much fun good arenas various enemies goated gameplay that forces you to play with every single weapon
ngl had some lack in environment variety
and mid bosses
game length is like 6 7 hours which is so good for the ultimate experience (having it longer will end it up being kinda boring)
really needed this sorta energy and adrenaline
the story..... meh who cares ? just fuck some demons
SOUNDTRACKS was very good i like every doom music makes me wanna rule the world lol
i like the idea of you being the boss of this game and every other demon IS just scared of you🤣

Pretty remarkable FPS - doesn't waste your time, beat around the bush, or do much of anything other than throw waves of enemies at you while you run around firing away. The occasional secret or time trial break up what could be monotony a bit, but Doom 2016 knows what it is and how to accomplish it best. Add in the generous number of checkpoints and you have a game that's fun to play, smooth to play, and easy to play
