Summary

London, 1868. The Industrial Revolution unleashes an incredible age of invention, transforming the lives of millions with technologies once thought impossible. Opportunities created during this period have people rushing to London to engage in this new world, a world no longer controlled by kings, emperors, politicians, or religion, but by a new common denominator: money. Not everyone is able to enjoy the benefits of this boom, however. Despite fueling the engine of the British Empire, workers’ lives are little more than legalized slavery while the top few percent profit from their labor. Living poor and dying young, the lower class unite in protest as a new kind of family, gangs, who turn to a life in the underworld in their struggle to survive. A struggle, until watchful Assassins come to their side and re-ignite an age-old conflict involving London’s leaders that will echo throughout modern history, from the underground up. Introducing Jacob Frye, who with the help of his twin sister Evie, will change the fate of millions in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Rise to rally and lead the underworld to break the corrupt stranglehold on London in a visceral adventure filled with action, intrigue, and brutal combat.

I'm not sure I can really explain this one.

This game is really stupid and silly and ridiculous and dumb. But also it rules? I don't know. Proto Spiderman zipping around in London in the goofiest storyline with funny British people saying funny British stuff and using funny weapons like knuckle dusters and cane-swords.

This feels like I shouldn't like it because of how much I hated Unity but somehow this game is just smoother? Controls in climbing and combat are just less sluggish and everything feels more responsive. The world is really visually impressive too without all the annoying lens flare of Unity. Biggest gripe is probably really just that Evie feels at times sidelined in the main missions, with Jacob getting a lot of the attention/assassination missions, but it really feels like this is supposed to be Evie's story.

I could probably go more in depth on this but this is one of the best in the franchise and my main way of proving that is I actually actively wanted to play additional missions and shit which is generally not the case with me and Assassin's Creed. Color me surprised with how much I enjoyed this one.

This is the de facto 7 out of 10 game. It has some bad, with some good and just a lot of potential wasted. The biggest flaw this game has is what their actually is to do in the game. There is so much bloat that it almost completely turned me off at the start. But once you learn what's completely useless and what is ok to go around and get it becomes a little more palatable. If they would have limited though what you can collect and refined it to make it more interactive and less just go and fetch it could have been a great highlight, since the traversal is so great. Another lowlight is the story structure. People say there is no story here, and I don't fully agree. The narrative is pretty shallow, but the characters are fairly engaging enough to the point that I at least cared enough to want to see what happens. The mission structure just made it that nothing major could really happen, making the overall story feel less important than it should have. The last complaint are that the graphics can be really iffy at times, but the graphics had no part in the low score it received, they're not bad enough for it to be a problem, more just a small complaint. The best thing the game has going for it is the parkour system. It really does feel great. It might take a minute to get the hang of it, but once you do traversing around is awesome. The setting is also a huge highlight. From the architecture to the horse carriages and the people it's a great place to have an AC game. There's also plenty of historical characters that each feel like a cameo that are really cool to see for the first time. The characters like I mentioned before are good as well, with both Jacob and Evie being great characters. I do prefer Evie as do most people, but I don't dislike Jacob like most do. I don't think this is the best AC game in the series, but I do think that if you're in the mood to play AC and haven't played this one it is a fine enough experience. And to new ac fans, this isn't the worse starting place either.

Not horrible, but I couldn't tell you anything about the story other than it has two main characters, they live in London, and you kill people. I enjoyed playing Evie more than Jacob, but that's all I can really say about this game.

Lack of weapon variety. Simplistic combat and stealth. Frustrating RPG stat implementation. Jacob and Evie aren't differentiated enough in gameplay. Great atmosphere and character dynamics.
