Okay so right off the bat I'm gonna say that I am watching MY SON play this & I am not playing myself. That being said, I have played so many games in my life & can tell good from bad just by watching it. So I am going to submit my take based off of what I've seen so far.
First things first, graphics. This game looks like piss. It looks EXACTLY like an old Playstation 3 title. The open world in this game is AWFUL. It is messy, empty, the "enemy types" are lazy & dull. For this being a Sonic game it is insane that so much of it feels uninspired. I honestly have very little positive on this one other than the score. The music for this is incredible. There are times where it sounds like early concepts of Zimmer's Inception score. Really good stuff.
All in all, this game is ass. You're better off sticking to the classics with some color, fun, & 100% Sonic. I wanted HIM to love it, ME to love it, & for it to become a classic itself. Unfortunately, none of this will ever happen.
Final verdict: Don't touch it
Sonic Team have the formula down for the great Sonic game here. It's just the execution that was bad. If they stay with this formula for the next game and improve on all their shortcomings, there is potential for an amazing Sonic game.
