Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen takes place mostly in the fictional region of Kanto. This is one distinct region of many in the Pokémon world, which includes varied geographical habitats for the Pokémon species, human-populated towns and cities, and routes between locations. Some areas are only accessible once players acquire a special item or one of their Pokémon learns a special ability.[11] Near the end of the plot, the protagonist is able to venture to the Sevii Islands, a new area not present in the original Red and Blue games. The Sevii Islands are an archipelago of seven islands and contain Pokémon normally exclusive to the Johto region, as well as several post-game missions. After the aforementioned missions on the Sevii Islands are completed, the ability to trade with Ruby and Sapphire for Hoenn-exclusive Pokémon becomes available.

Now 20 years later, when my best friend introduced me to the best mod for Pokémon Emerald, called Pokémon Imperium Emerald, he recommended I play Radical Red, made by the same modder, which was released prior to Imperium Emerald. I must say, this might be the hardest Pokémon game ever. There's a normal mode and then the HARDCORE mode. I played the latter and it was really hard! Even the regular trainer with lvl 10-15 mons can WHOOP YOUR ASS HARD! That's why you have to have the right team. That's right, you can't use your favorite mons (I couldn't even use Gengar, Alakazam, Dragonite, Charizard, Blastoise, and Pidgeot like I did in Fire Red) because they are weak now compared to other generations. You need to build a team that can win matches.
The best thing about it is the QOL features, you can now have the option to make the team from 1025 Pokémons. This made me love the game even more, as other mods don't offer this feature. This saved me 20-30 hours, and I'm glad I finally finished it! I hope more mods with QOL features and difficulty settings come out. I'd definitely play them then. Playing Radical Red and Imperium Emerald has spoiled me for the main games; now I don't want to play them. 😅
