Summary

Unsheathe your sword and take up your shield! The world of Pokémon expands to include the Galar region in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield!

Wasn't worth my time, wish I hadn't bought it.

Very good!! I really like the dynamax concept. It is still a bit too easy, but that's not really a problem for me. Story a bit weird, but sure!

Not the best Pokémon game, not the worst. The soundtrack as always is definitely a plus, though visually the game isn't fantastic, graphical details are lacking, framerate can be choppy, and the wild areas, while cool, feel a little bland, and the Pokémon popping in randomly is a bit off-putting. Additionally, the game is still far too easy, and I feel as though Pokémon has been needing some difficulty settings for a long long time, this seems particularly apparent in Sword and Shield, where the player is encouraged to catch as many Pokémon as possible in the wild areas - which grants experience to the whole party - which leads to excessive overlevelling. Generally though, it's a good game as far as Pokémon goes, but it's nothing groundbreaking.

Not the worst pokemon game out there, but really nothing special. The wild area was a good concept to move the series forward that ultimately fell flat in execution. The better version of this was legends arceus. The new pokemon designs were pretty solid, nothing exceptional but definitely not bad by any means. The visuals here are really rough I won't lie. Textures have no business being so awful, and I'm not someone who thinks graphics are everything, but when the previous games were let's go pikachu and eevee, there really isn't any excuse since they've made incredible looking games on the console already. The different areas of the world to explore were decent as well. As much as the areas and the pokemon were mediocre and passable at best, discovering these things were still the best part about this game. This by no means is a perfect pokemon game or experience, but if you have an itch for pokemon this can do.
Edit: Looking back on this game, with what we're getting with pokemon now, I can say that this is more like a 7. I'm not boosting the rating here because the new game looks so bad, but looking back I definitely had a lot of fun here. This still isn't a perfectly built game, there are still graphical issues that some people might not be able to overlook, however, this is a game that fits the mold of being a 7. Definite issues on the developers side of things, but while playing through it you still have a lot of fun and can see the potential of a 9+ if the developers actually gave a damn
