Summary

In Mad Max, the player takes on the role of titular character Mad Max; a dangerous melee fighter and can use his attacks to kill almost anyone. His weapon of choice is his shotgun. He is assisted by another man called Chumbucket. Chum mainly works with Max to build and upgrade the Magnum Opus vehicle. Mad Max will feature a variety of weapons which Max can use to defeat enemies. Though the shotgun is Max's weapon of choice, ammo is scarce, and so melee options are the smarter way to go. The 'thunderstick' is an explosive weapon that can be lanced into an enemy's chest, crackling like a lit dynamite fuse before blowing the victim to smithereens. The Harpoon is also one of Max's favorite weapon though it can only be used in-vehicle with Chum riding along. Max's Magnum Opus can be combined with a speedy V12 engine and powerful ramming ability to destroy enemies's vehicles and weaponry. When simultaneously driving and aiming, the game enters slow-motion and allows you to toggle between targets. Not much is known about the vehicular combat and its features. Mad Max will feature crafting system which can be used to craft new weapons and tools. Max's garage can also be used to change and modify the car's engines, chassis, wheels, body works including paint treatment and the “shell” of the auto-mobile and the car’s weight and attributes update accordingly. Max can also be upgraded though it's plans hasn't fully been implemented. Many choices are given in the game, such as, either playing silently or aggressively. Max can also get guidance from Chum about how he can complete his objectives strategically. However, its largely up to the player how he can complete the objectives.

I want to start of by saying that this review is going to sound more negative than I intend it to be. While playing the game I thought I would give it a 6, and now looking back on my 50 hours invested in this game, I almost tempted to give it an 8, so in the middle I go with a 7, which is not bad at all. I'll start with the weakest part of the game that brings it down, the gameplay loop. The gameplay itself, the racing, hand to hand combat, vehicular combat is actually very good. The hand to hand can get a little annoying at times with the amount of enemies that can surround you, but it has that very satisfying Batman arkham type of combat. What brings this down is the things to actually do. The open world is humongous, filled with quests, but it's the same 6 things you're doing over and over, literally, and sometimes they're annoyingly complicated for no reason. Now you can skip most of these, but for completionists or people who have a compulsion to do everything like me it can drive you insane. The only thing I can say about it that's any sense of good is that it is very satisfying watching the threat level go down, but it's really annoying to get there. Now for the absolute great parts, the storytelling. Not the just the story itself, which is great, but everything about how they do it. So first off the story does take a minute to get going, but the final acts genuinely left me in absolute awe, my jaw literally dropped. But surrounding this great story, is a bland and baron world, that does exactly whats its supposed to do, make you feel like you're in a wasteland. The world isn't empty really, but it feels empty. The one thing that I think anyone who plays this will walk away with is the feeling the game gave them. You feel like you're in this wasteland, this ugly shell of the world we currently live in. You feel just how bad things have gotten in this universe. You might be reading this and think im crazy or something, but for me the best thing this game did was create such a unique atmosphere that only this game has pulled off for me. No other game can make such an ugly map to explore look and feel so important and meaningful. Any other game, with any other story and any other gameplay, the world would be the worst thing, and yet here it manages to shine

FUN, this game was so enjoyable. The car gameplay was felt so right, felt punchy, fast, and exhilarating. The open world was a treat to explore. Can't wait to properly replay this beauty.

Story, gameplay, music, characters, I like everything. I feel sorry that very few people played this game, because it's definitely deserves a better reviews.
