Summary

Firewatch is a single-player first-person video game where you, as a man named Henry, explore the Wyoming wilderness after taking a summer job as a fire lookout. What is supposed to be a peaceful respite from your complicated life takes a turn when you start to question some of the things that are happening to you. Your only human connection is over a handheld radio, which you’ll use to speak with your supervisor Delilah about the things both of you are experiencing.

Absolutely phenomenal storytelling and immersion. I'm a little late to the party but this is one of the best games I've played in 2021.

Game pretends to be a an horror, and shows, that we - the players are panaroic and game is totally unexpectedly ending. This is a story about normal life and human interactions. Games used us to know that everything is epic and paranormal, but this game truly shows us, how game stories and plots should more look like.

Firewatch is a rewarding experience, its visual style is very beautiful, as is its soundtrack. The story is well told, very emotional and with mysteries to unravel. Henry and Delilah are very charismatic characters and they both have fantastic chemistry. However, it is a short game with simple gameplay.

This greatly surpassed my expectations. The story was not at all what I was expecting, and it was incredibly well written. I loved the art style of this game, and the charm that it had.

The controls were simple, and the game play itself was incredibly straightforward. Almost like a walking click and play.

Visually, it was impressive. While the art style was more on the cartoon side, the landscapes were incredibly beautiful. While the map is relatively as far as places you can actually travel to, it seems incredibly VAST. Mix the beautiful scenery in with the ambient sounds of the surrounding National Forest, and this game is incredibly immersive. Even more so if you have a decent pair of headphones to slap on. And man oh man...does it have its TENSE moments. There were sections of the game where I found myself holding my breath, or cautiously and slowly moving around corners. Consistently checking over my shoulder. Firewatch does a masterful job of building up suspense.

I am going to give it an eight, the story was good. Really good, in fact. However, the end felt almost anticlimactic, maybe even rushed.. I just wanted more loose ends to be tied up. Overall though, well worth a morning to get this through this one. Took me only about four hours and some change to finish.

For a plot that develops via conversations between 2 people over a radio, while you hike around, this was a great story. I found some of the navigating frustrating at times but I was motivated to continue thanks to the unfolding relationship between the characters, and some unusual occurrences that you have to investigate. I found the length and the ending a bit disappointing but it was still worthwhile.
