Summary

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is an action role-playing third-person shooter. As the first shooter game in the Final Fantasy series, the action is viewed from an over-the-shoulder perspective similar to Resident Evil 4, although players can switch to a first-person perspective if they wish. Defeating enemies yields EXP, and at the end of each stage, the player can either use that EXP to level up, increasing Vincent's stats, or convert it to Gil (the in-game currency), which can then be used to purchase items and equipment upgrades.

My first Final Fantasy game.I was supposed to play the original from 1997 first, but somehow I got this spinoff instead, long story. There are some things I enjoyed and somewhere I didn't liked it and then I liked it again.First of all,the gameplay was fun for couple of chapters, then it becomes repetitive.I wasn't a fan of repeating the same thing again, shooting at enemies, getting cardkeyes, proceed to next area etc.Another issue for me is difficulty.First 6-7 chapters even a baby could get it done, even the boss fights were too easy minus Rooso the Crimson and Arch Azul.Story was ok,but I wasn't fan of 20-30 minutes of cutscenes being thrown in my face.Controls were well made, level design was linear.Combat was simple, but you will rely on shooting for most part. You can upgrade weapons, when finishing the level you have the option to increase your stats or get a gil(currency).Loved the freedom of choice.Graphics look fantastic for 2006,even on hd TV it looks fantastic.I will go as far as saying that this game is underrated. At chapter 10 I seriously considered rage quiting because that level lasts over an hour. The last chapter was epic,it felt so good when Omega fight finally begins,Vincent transforms into Demon and blasts everything in his way. Then that Longing-Gackht song kicks in while you shred him from the inside, probably is in top 5 epic game moments for me.That final chapter was nothing short but EPIC!Characters are likeable for most part. Vincent is great protagonist,at first I thought "Oh great another silent badass character we saw 1000 of times",but when he starts talking it's great, his voice actor did a fantastic job.My favorite line was "When you care about someone that much, giving up your life is the least you could do.I quess that's what makes us human".Soundtrack was neutral for me,but like I say Longing song rules!I'm really looking forward to original FF7,Vincent is a side charater, and I'm lookin forward to see what he does there.Overall I can't give this game higher rating because of repetition and ultra easy difficulty gameplay, but yeah for the most part it was a good game for me.Another reason why PlayStation 2 is still the best console ever made

Didn't expect a third person shooter to be way too repetitive, way too easy, it really only gets good in the final chapters. This game gave me DMC 2 vibes Vincent's demon's can fit in DMC. If they ever remake this let's hope there's more enemy variety, more weapons, better customization, and hopefully they focus more on the action combat of this game cuz the shooting felt a little off.
