Summary

Chronicles: China takes place after the film Assassin's Creed: Embers. It features the Chinese assassin Shao Jun in 1526. After being trained by legendary Italian assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Shao Jun returns to her homeland to exact vengeance against the Templar group Eight Tigers, who wiped out the Chinese brotherhood. Shao Jun's quest took her through Macau, Nan'an, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, as she killed the Tigers one by one and finally assassinating the final target, Zhang Yong. Years later, Shao Jun, who became an Assassin Mentor and had rebuilt the brotherhood, plotted the assassination of Jiajing Emperor by sending him an elixir of life. Chronicles: China was originally announced in September 2014 as part of the season pass for Assassin's Creed Unity. It was released on April 21, 2015, in North America and April 22, 2015, in other territories, on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Chronicles: China is the first title in the franchise to utilize Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3.

After so many sequels,Ubisoft finally decided to change the gameplay. The highlight of this game is playing 2D style of AC.It felt so refreshing. You have limited amount of weapons and gadgets you can use effectively, level design was beatiful and linear. The story follows Shao Jun a Chinese assassin, who seeks revenge against Templars.Story was straight forward, parkour was nicely inserted in 2D gameplay.I love how this game forces you to be stealthy, because if you are not,it usually leads to death.I wish this was the same path they took with previous games.Combat is fine for a boss fights, and protagonist should be a shadow, like he was never there, going only after it's targets. There are option to how you want to play, shadow, assassin and brawler.More stealthy you are,the game awards you more.I've seen people complain about this one not being open world in third person. If that's how those people feel, than those guys don't know shit about video games. Games should be ambitious, sequels need to feel and look different from one another to keep you interested. How can anyone enjoy playing the same style of a game over and over again,it only leads to insanity.Chronicles spinoff may not be big game, but at least they are what main AC aren't,different from previous entries. It's type of game you can play again and I'm proud to have this one on steam.Loved the art,2D combat, parkour, fast paced gameplay and overall it's such a overlooked game.Nobody is talking about it outside real gamers.Never wanted to play India or Russia because it's the same thing, but Chronicles China atmosphere was really good. After Chronicles entries AC became nothing but cash grabs with no quality or creativity.Definetly worth buying,it won't dissapoint

Okay hold on this is actually pretty good. I mean it's sort of just a typical 2D platformer (2.5D if you're feeling a bit diabolical), the story is barebones, and the combat is a little clunk- but it's really stylish in the best way, assassinations and speed running is fun, stealth is satisfying, and it's quick and to the point. It doesn't waste nearly as much of your time as other games in the franchise. This game is kinda cool and her kill animations are super sick so it gets a pass I don't care

+ Interesting lore in the AC universe
+ Great visuals & Voice acting
+ Overall Level Design
+ Nice ending
+ Stealth mechanics & simple gameplay…

- ... that gets too clunky too many times.
- Weak Combat system
- Skills acquired out of order with the
presented storyline and backstories
- Lack of character customization

Final Score: 7.2 / 10
