Summary

Owlboy is a platform/action-adventure video game created by Norwegian developer D-Pad Studio. Explore a vibrantly crafted pixel world in this flying adventure platformer. Being a mute, Otus struggles living up to the expectations of owl-hood. Things spiral from bad to worse with the sudden appearance of sky pirates. What follows is a journey through monster infested ruins, with unexpected encounters, and burdens no one should have to bear.

it was a torture to play,no joke. and the story didnt help ,was wholesome but damn was it a pain.

It's fine, but doesn't quite hold up to the metroidvanias that have been released since.

If I had played this in 2016 on release, I think it would've been a 9. But we've been in a golden age of indie games and metroidvanias ever since, and it gets dwarfed by the likes of Hollow Knight and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

The carry mechanic, intriguing and innovative at the time, now feels restrictive. The pixel art, while still appealing, isn't as unique as it once was. All in all, it FEELS like you're playing an 8 year old game.

That said, it's still competent gameplay, the story is solid, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it. Enjoyable, but only if you're a fan of the genre.

Style over substance is the best way to describe this game.
The pixel graphics are so dam gorgeous but alot of the game play is boring. The story was also hit or miss.

It's a nice retro throwback but I honestly think you're better off skipping this.

Pretty basic story but charming characters and animations. Liked the beginning of the game a lot but stopped caring near the end. The plot was soooo basic and was hardly explained so that part was forgettable. The combat was okay but frustrating at times. Not much insensitive to explore other than finding coins. Wouldn't say it's replayable. Really the only thing I liked was the character interactions and dialog.

This game was an amazing experience. I love the art style, it's reminiscent of older games but still manages to feel clean. This game's movement is so fun to play, either in combat or out, and the combat is intuitive and fun to play. The game is puzzle based, similar to classic Zelda titles, with just as good, if not better music. I enjoyed many interactions between the cast, as ell as people they meet along the way and I honestly couldn't find a period where I didn't enjoy the game.
