Summary

The famous Mario Brothers return in this sequel to the humorous Superstar Saga. In this adventure, Princess Peach takes a trip in a time machine, but when it returns, there's only a monster inside! The heroic brothers travel back in time only to discover that evil alien life forms known as the Shroobs have taken over the Mushroom Kingdom, and no-one is safe! They soon meet up with their younger selves, and set out to stop the alien menace, not to mention rescue the Princess!

A great Mario and Luigi game and a good game overall. The combat is excellent with it's time-based attacks, though fighting with all 4 playable characters in the party is sometimes difficult when you use certain Bros. Moves if you're used to playing past and future entries (where only A and B were used for Mario and Luigi as opposed to X and Y for the babies as well). I think the dialogue was really funny, but faltered occasionally, like with the mind-controlled Hammer Bros., or most of Stuffwells dialogue, which makes him pretty unmemorable as he only serves to teach the player how to use the menus. I really like the overall story of the game, and at times the Shroob storyline felt pretty dark, which I feel is always a nice breath of fresh air in the Mario franchise as a whole. The music in the game was great, not as memorable as other games in my opinion, though the boss battle theme definitely stuck. I would still recommend this game, especially if you like liked other Mario & Luigi games.

Lost my interest in the midpoint of the game, everything got repetitive.

A very well designed game with great gameplay mechanics and a fun story involving aliens. An nds game that anyone would enjoy even today in 2023 and for many years to come. The things that stops it from reaching the mighty 9/10, is how the 4 buttons mechanic can sometime become confusing. It's almost like it's too rich in button assignments, switching from the babies to the big brothers outside and inside combats gave me quite a few frustrations up till the end. The last thing that dropped another 0,5 point for me is the final boss difficulty peak. No boss should take an hour to beat, giving this dragging on feeling at the very end of the game. But nonetheless, it's a no brainer, quite enjoyed my time here.
