Halo Infinite

Meh. Good, tight gameplay, but the open world sucks and the story just doesn't do it for me, but that's subjective.

After Halo 5, my expectations were at an all time low. Luckily, this game is better than Halo 5, so congratulations on not being the worst Halo game ever made. It's not much, but it's not nothing.

I'm still not sure how I felt about the open world aspect. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it also didn't exactly feel like a Halo game. The open world wasn't even particularly interesting, I personally feel that it added very little to the game. Between Echo being a crybaby, The Weapon being very cringy (although she did vastly improve near the end), and Escharum being the mayor of yappville, things were looking bleak. Fortunately, they never got so bad as to substantially detract from my enjoyment of the game.

This certainly wasn't ground breaking, but it didn't do anything horrendously frustrating or offensive either (it's really sad that I'm giving it credit for that, but it's where we're at). I've heard MANY people call this game a "return to form" with which I vehemently disagree. I would not say the Halo franchise has recovered, however, I would say this game has successfully stemmed the bleeding. Will Halo make a full recovery? I can now say I am cautiously optimistic. I think something Cortana says near the end of the game sums it up best:

"...But this isn't an end. It's a chance to make amends. To rectify mistakes. And it starts here."

Really good gameplay with one of the worst progression systems ever.

A disgrace to the Halo franchise

I want to rank Halo Infinite higher due to its fantastic gameplay, but poor management, along with abhorrent monetization leave the game in a disappointing state. Hopefully the new management at 343 saves Halo Infinite from being dead because I want the game to succeed.

It was better than, four and infinitely better than five. Grappling mechanic was cool, but I wish they fleshed out the other abilities too.
