DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition includes all the stylish action gameplay from the original release, all previously released downloadable content, including the Vergil's Downfall campaign plus brand new modes and additional content, making this the ultimate offering for Devil May Cry fans. Maximizing the potential of next-gen hardware, the game's high quality production values will run at a stunning 1080p and smooth 60 fps across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Characters and plot—don't have any defense for it; it's highly mediocre, with only Dante's character development throughout the game from a careless thug to a protector of humanity clearly being the highlight.
Gameplay is rather great and an enjoyable experience, although the demonic and angelic-specific weapons are somewhat tiring to use over time. There is a pretty decent variety for combat to not get stale, a good plus being playable Vergil and bloody palace modes.
What I consider the best redeeming qualities are the soundtrack, art, and level design; playing through DmC after DMC5 felt incredibly refreshing, with levels consistently being varied and unique.
The Definitive Edition adds much-needed 60 fps and turbo mode, making the experience much more enjoyable. New outfits do also add some variety; Bloody Palace is also a joy to play around in.
Honestly, I don't think there is a reason to not play this at least once considering how dry this series content has become.
