Summary

Devil May Cry 5 is a brand-new entry in the legendary over-the-top action series Devil May Cry. The game features three playable characters, each with a radically different stylish combat play style as they take on the city overrun with demons. Developed with Capcom’s in-house proprietary RE engine, the series continues to achieve new heights in fidelity with graphics that utilize photorealistic character designs and stunning lighting and environmental effects.

Only bad thing about DMC 5 is playing as V

I thought I would never see a proper continuation of the mainline Devil May Cry series, and what a delight it was to finally receive one. Devil May Cry 5 is a great classic character action game with a modern tint to it. Visually impressive, although the style has been changed to a more modern-looking setting lacking that gothic feel the series had, a disappointing change, but it does look appealing.

Narrative is a step up from the previous entry, but it doesn't push enough to the level of DMC3; the twist and the identity of the main villain are blatantly obvious from the start, but the journey itself and a bigger focus on the family of Sparda are welcome, and some lingering questions and loose ends are finally addressed.

This time around there are three main characters: Nero still has mostly the same moveset, but the complexity was greatly increased thanks to robotic arm mechanics, making Nero not get tiresome with time like before. Dante returns once again, and he is pretty much the same as in DMC4, with a new devil trigger. Besides that, the arsenal is expanded with some older series weapons returning, being better than ever; a few new weapons are also quite entertaining to use. Overall, he is still the most fun to play as with the most complexity to his moveset. V is a newcomer with a new style of gameplay in which you need to command beasts to fight for you. It is pretty unique, but I can't say that I am a big fan, but for the sake of variety, I do enjoy the creativity. As a character, he is pretty interesting to follow, but the ending twist with V was apparent and maybe disappointing in a way.

Levels are pretty great this time around, each one ending with a boss battle, which I found to be the most consistently great I have seen in the series, concerning both quality and quantity. Environment is something I have a gripe with; it's mostly modern with a lacking gothic feel to it; the second half of the game changes mostly to Qliphoth-themed environments with no variety at all, which gets highly tiresome by the end.

The soundtrack is, as always, full of standout bangers, the Nero theme being the highlight.

Besides that, Devil May Cry V is a worthy sequel and a great character action game, must play for the fans of this genre.

BANG BANG BANG PULL MY DEVIL TRIGGER

What a dissapointment.DMC4 ended up being my favorite game in a franchise, along with 3,my expectations for this one were high. There are so many things about this game that annoyed me.First the gameplay,DMC games used to be somewhat difficult, pacing as well, but in this one,it felt too easy. Also why are there so many combat sequenses during cutscenes, shouldn't we as players supposed to do all that.I haven't died once during a walkthrough,it was thag easy. This is one of those games where you mash buttons to win instead of having some kind of strategy to win,it was one of the most lame games I ever played.3 and 4 were way better than this.To make it worse they added microtransactions just to milk customers to last penny they own. They expect you to pay a total of 143$ for all dlc's.Why would anyone with functioning brain want to spent almost 200$ for entire game?30$ for soundtrack alone, you want to play as Vergil, you gotta pay more, you want to listen Bury The Light, you gotta pay more, alt.costumes you gotta pay more, orbs same, unreal, what the hell.So many paid reviews.Capcom ruined the franchise with this, how this got highest rating of all DMC games out there?DMC as franchise was somewhat good.First was average, but still better than 5,second was garbage,3 and 4 were great hack and slash games, but 5 hit rock bottom, and somehow critics and casual gamers give this game 9 and 10 rating, unreal.Another thing that annoyed me was, since when did DMC became emo game, all I saw was characters with tattoos all over their bodies and they all look dark. All side characters are horrible,Nico and V were bad characters. Also why they brought back Vergil? They destroyed his legacy in this one.Capcom promoted him dead outside of DMC3,he was a perfect rival that died during DMC1,his story was finished. But fans being fanboys decided to beg Capcom to bring him back simply because fanboys like him, again so unnecessary.Story was a mess, all over the place, soundtrack was ok but Bury the light song was perfect and memorable.Special edition looks even worse,it started to become a norm to have "Dante must die" mode and have entire same levels with Vergil,so lame and waste of money if you ask me.After this one I can only say yes they will keep making these games until you get sick of it,but if Capcom is smart,I would suggest that you leave this franchise and never make another one,but problem is they are greddy aren't they?
