The original Dark Souls will always be one of the most influential games to ever release. It’s enemy and world design are intoxicating and will always leave you wanting more.

However despite all the praise this game gets, it’s worth noting some areas in this game make having an aneurism look fun. Parts of the game are unfortunately unfinished and that was due to deadlines, these unfinished aspects of the game can be really off putting at times but they don’t bring down how good the game is as a whole.

This game will always hold a special place in a lot of people’s hearts. It’s flaws are apparent but so are it’s accomplishments.

I finally finished Dark Souls. I never thought this day would come, I never thought I'd even play this game. Now that I've finished it, I want my 40+ hours back.

This game is absolutely the epitome of garbage, one of the worst games I've ever played. I don't know how this game garnered all of its praises. Ever since its release, I've known this game to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest, games ever. All those rage montages and memes made me avoid soulslike because I thought it's pointless. But Sekiro and Bloodborne made me love this genre and that's why I gave it a try. But my god, this game is nothing like it's famous for. It's so easy; the bosses are a walk in the park, I didn't even use summons, most were 1st tries; I was extremely disappointed. They are so horribly designed, and most of the game's level and enemy design are so garbage, it made me want to quit. You know the definition of a hard game? Fromsoft's very own, Sekiro. That's an actual HARD game. Even Demon's Souls was far superior in every single aspect.

I just wanted to finish this game badly. The game is not hard like it's known for; it's just badly designed, and they've designed it in such a way that you'll die again and again because of the ganking, terrible placements of enemies, and the long runbacks from the bonfire. They just used the worst possible mechanics to kill you in a cheap way, not to mention the disgusting areas like the Depths, Blighttown, Sen's Fortress, Crystal Cave, Lost Izalith, and the Tomb of the Giants. I'm sure they saw how people died for their awful level design and ganking and pleasured themselves while watching. And the graphics, it didn't age well at all, even the remastered version doesn't hold up, both feel like a game made from 2006, the early Xbox 360/PS3 era, even Demon's Souls looked graphically superior.

I was so disappointed, and I still wonder what people find in this game that made them love it so much. Even the last boss battle was so anticlimactic; I just couldn't do anything but watch in dismay. Okay, the combat is good, I loved spending hours exploring the well-designed areas like the Firelink Shrine, Anor Londo, and the Painted World of Ariamis; I really enjoyed the DLC; the soundtrack, and the lore are the best things about this game.

I can go on and on about its flaws, but I'm glad I finished this overrated abomination, and I'm never going to touch it again. I'm so happy that they learned from this and made a better game in Dark Souls 3, I'm pretty sure even Dark Souls 2 will be better than this since people love this trash and hate the former. If this game didn't exist, we wouldn't get Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, even Lies of P. I'm just waiting to play Dark Souls 3 now.

Update:

After finishing all 3. This is hands down the WORST game in the series.
