Summary

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is the eleventh installment of the Wolfenstein series and a sequel to the 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order. The game follows the main protagonist, William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz, in his efforts to ignite a Second American Revolution. The game is played from a first-person perspective and most of its levels are navigated on foot. The story is arranged in chapters, which players complete in order to progress. A binary choice in the prologue alters the game's entire storyline; some characters and small plot points are replaced throughout the timelines. The game features a variety of weapons, most of which can be dual wielded. A cover system is also present.

after Titanfall 2 and doom eternal Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus is best fps game of decade great story, smooth gameplay, mick Gordon music and William b.j f*cking blazkowicz are reasons to make the new colossus a phenomenal first person shooter

This wasn't all too good...

I also need to rant after seeing a dumbass review here. That just reminded me of how so many people apparently think is a "WoKe" game with an "AgEnDa". Now, it's Wolfenstein. I mean, come on. Who fucking buys Wolfenstein, a WWII era game and complains about the politics and presence of such? These people really don't get how they stupid they sound. No shit there's gonna be politics and discussion of human/civil rights. Which brings me to my next point. This game is no way accurate to what actually happened during WWII, and that's the point. This game acknowledges that and goes the "What if Nazis had won" route. It's a video game for fucksake. I love how people think they know what they're talking about and want accuracy but also complain that it's political? What the hell is even that. I don't have any patience or respect for people like this. Shit. Rant over.

This is just me but it didn't live up to my expectations which in part is my fault but still.

I do love the story. Hearing of the plot is what inspired me to want to try it out. That and also seeing a lot of comparisons of this to the Doom franchise. So naturally, I went in expecting Doom except it's WWII and the Nazis are the demons you slaughter. Well, that's not how it is at all. But it's okay.

And yeah, that's not the game's fault at all. It's rather my own for expecting a Doom copy, which this game just isn't. At least not to me. I definitely see a lot of similarities but it plays and feels very different. While I was enamored with the idea I'd be an unstoppable Nazi-killing machine, it sure didn't feel like it.

Which therein lies my own problem. The difficulty. Now, it's not easy saying this. I'm sure I'd be ridiculed if people could comment because I personally wasn't a fan of just how difficult it was. And again, this is nothing against the game or people behind it. I had a lot of trouble and it personally didn't exactly appeal to me. I never have this problem with other shooters but here it was bad. I had to play on the lowest difficulty to finish. And while there's never any shame in that, it was disappointing admittedly. Which goes hand in hand with the gameplay too. I really didn't like the way health and armor worked in this. Was just so complicated and for what. Max health being 50, while if I'm remembering correctly, both extra armor and health, automatically deplete. And fast. It's a disappointment to me. But hey, what can you do.

Back to what I liked. I thought it was a pretty fun and really interesting story. Compelling characters all around. I had a good time exploring this world and getting to know the characters. And of course, just shoot some Nazis which you can't go wrong with. And while it has been a while since I've played, I did really like the political and civil rights talk in-game. It's fascinating to watch everyone interact and see what they believe in unfold. BJ for instance learning America isn't and has never been what he thought it was is just great. Compelling shit there.

I'm glad to say I'm excited for a 3rd entry should there be one. That's about it.

Good anti-fascist game :)

We need more games where Nazis get brutally maimed.

A great continuation of an already excellent New Order.

Visuals and gameplay finally are up to modern standards, character continue to be entertaining to follow with some getting complex and emotional story arcs, number of set pieces and overall memorably insane scene count was noticeably increased for the sequel.

My only gripes with the game is poorly optimized soundtrack (in a way it's sometimes hard to hear excellently composed music in the background), story on an abrupt note teasing another mainline entry, which ended up being Youngblood that besides being the worst entry also skipped the potentially biggest events accuring in this new wolfenstein universe, disappointing to say the least.

Overall on it's own a rather enjoyable experience which at times even exceed it's already great previous entry, just a mature, good fun you should experience.
