Summary

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone is the first major expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in October 2015. It adds a new storyline set in the existing game world, where Geralt is hired to deal with Olgierd von Everec, a nobleman with a mysterious and cursed past. The expansion introduces new characters, quests, enemies, and the Runewords system, which enhances gear with powerful effects. It emphasises narrative depth and moral choices, consistent with the tone of the main game.

It’s amazing. The quality of the quests is up there with the best of the main game. The variety of tasks, the screen time for the main characters, impressive as hell. That wedding quest is Hilarious. I loved every second of it.

I was worried it’d get boring. Thought it’d be a bunch of fetch quests or the same old grind. But nah. Just more Witcher 3 greatness, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Every time i complete a quest I'm more certain that just some folk with hearts of stone could hate Witcher.

Great expansion. Story is very touchy. Liked both endings, but I spare Olgird in the end.Somehow I like to collect swords in this game 😂. In the end great DLC.

An expansion that brings a new, well-written journey to an already excellent base game, which I could argue provides a story that is more creative and compelling than the main narrative of The Witcher 3.

Gameplay-wise, not much is added or changed, besides new items, a weapon upgrade system, and new encounters in the open world, which doesn't provide new map areas but fills in base game areas that were previously empty.

The main highlight is the main and side quests added in that bring a lot of variety and replayability into the mix. New characters are pretty great and memorable, especially Olgierd and Gaunter O'Dimm, with the latter being a quite clever and terrifying villain character that easily rivals the Wild Hunt.

A must play, I gave it a 9/10 due to having much more content and substance Blood and Wine will provide later on, with Heart of Stone being lesser in content amount.
