Summary

Super Mario Land is the first Mario's outing on the Game Boy. It is a side-scrolling platformer much in the vein of the previous Super Mario Bros. This time, Mario must save Princess Daisy, rather than Princess Toadstool, from her kidnapper Tatanga, a mysterious spaceman. The game follows largely the same formula of its aforementioned predecessor, with Mario defeating enemies by jumping on them and collecting coins and power ups by hitting floating blocks, with each world leading up to a boss fight which is defeated using by collapsing the floor. A unique feature of this installment is two scrolling shoot-'em-up levels, the first of which Mario pilots a submarine, and the second an aeroplane.

This has the achievement of being the first portable Mario game, but it's very barebones and probably has the worst controls in any Mario game. It tried to be different by having shmup levels but they weren't strong either. The strongest thing it has going is it's unique setting.

This is nostalgia for me. The first game that
I beat ever and I had to learn how to speed run it because I was running out of batteries.

Amazing game. I play it every now and then still 😂

sure is the gameboy mario game. pretty fun, though I'm excited to play the others as I'm sure they improve on this a lot. seems more like a tech demo than ab actual game. Still neat tho!

This game is mid at best. I like the setting, the soundtrack are fantastic, and they do something different unlike new super mario bros series but that the redeming quality. The level are short and easy but the control isn't great. Mario is slipery and the jump feel slow and sluggish. If you drop mario on ledge, mario just instantly drop like a rock. I would not recommended the game.
