Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (known as Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty in Europe, Africa and Australia) is a 2008 platform game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. The game is the sixth main instalment in the Ratchet & Clank series and the second instalment in its Future saga. The game continues from where Tools of Destruction left off, where Clank was taken by the Zoni, and follows Ratchet's quest to find him. Due to its length of approximately three to four hours of playtime, it was released at a lower price point than most standard retail games.
To be fair I didn't really enter with expectations. So I never really knew what to expect...however what caught my eye is that The title says Ratchet and Clank....but there's no Clank on the game cover???? With a side eye I started playing it and throughout the game...there was still no Clank. So that title itself is misleading as hell.
The game Alone is frankly really short for a franchise as big as this. It feels sort of unfinished. The storyline is very basic, the characters aren't really that interesting. I had a chance to get this from work for free cause they were missing the case since I work at a gaming shop. So I did save money because to buy this just isn't worth it to me. The world although colourful it feels lifeless. The enemies aren't that challenging. There are some challenging traps but I didn't really struggle.
The graphics haven't really aged well considering this is a Sony exclusive game. And usually Sony exclusive games are really high quality. Ratchet is adorable as always. This makes it sound like I hate this game I didn't hate it i promise. It just didn't feel polished and finished. It needed to be longer.
What I really liked were the spoky aspects of this, when the area around you would turn Spooky green and you'd fight Spooky enemies. I wish that was the whole game, just a Spooky Ratchet and clank game. Not necessarily horror but like PG Spooky. I think that would have made this game more enjoyable, also this could have just been named Ratchet as a stand alone Ratchet game.
