Summary

A new Mario Tennis game is bringing a new level of skill and competition to Nintendo Switch. Mario steps onto the court in classy tennis garb for intense rallies against a variety of characters in full-blown tennis battles. New wrinkles in tennis gameplay will challenge your ability to read an opponent's position and stroke to determine which shot will give you the advantage. And this time the game adds the first story mode since the Mario Tennis game on Game Boy Advance, offering a new flavor of tennis gameplay, with a variety of missions, boss battles and more

I expected to play a tennis game...you know...the usual: two characters with tennis rackets, one court, one ball...Sadly what I actually got in story mode is Mario with tennis racket, one court, ocasionally one ball and thousands of challenges and only ocasionally an actual tennis match. The challenges range from timed ones to scored ones and thats...thats actually all there is nothing else...

The story is pretty boring: find five balls and stop evil tennis racket (I wish I was kidding...) and it's extremelly boring.

The freeplay/multiplayer is way better...but not even that saves it enough so I could recommend this game. Even if you're fan of Mario or tennis (Especially if you're a fan of tennis) avoid this game...

The story mode is extremely lackluster in this game. It has good concepts quite frankly, the issue is that it was simply executed with minimal effort and vision behind it. As good as the ideas were, not a single mechanic or feature was realized to its full potential to make a substantial story mode. As a mario tennis game it's as good as it gets and is fun to play with people who like playing these sort of games. There is an extremely varied amount of playable characters and character classes, even so that characters within the same class still feel and play different with everyone having unique special shots. Other than that however, there is not much else in this game that is making a case for you to buy it, other than if you are a collector. I would say 20 bucks Canadian is the highest I'd pay to play the story mode for this game alone
