"Ultimate" is a subtitle that is very well deserved. Hands down the best roster in any fighting game and will probably never be beaten in many years. If you've ever played a video, there is 100% a character in here that you love. The gameplay is the most balanced and satisfying of any smash game. There is so much detail, care and passion put into each IP represented here. A gaming hall of fame if you will.

Best smash game. only flaws are the story mode, obviously subspace takes the cake there, with much more effort put into the animatics, plus cooler, actual levels. not just battles with effects. but man I put so much time into this in the lockdown lol, I haven't checked in a while put it's nearing the thousands. I main Sonic, Falco and DK. Yeah yeah sonic crime or whatever but man I had fun with him and I gotta play him cause ima sonic fanboy. plus his tech is actually pretty fun, look up lyco sonic on YouTube. and aikori sonic, he's great too. clockworkvideos used to make good sonic montages, but his channel died lol R.I.P. Anyways yeah super fun, used to spend hours just playing battle arenas, grinding characters into elite and stuff. Even got all the trophies AND all the spirits which was a BEHEMOTH of a task but I got it done. And all the characters you can play as is incredible, plus with the dlc, its basically fortnite now lol, you can play as fucking minecraft steve against solid snake against hot ass bayonetta. Plus the joy of getting it on Christmas day and playing with my brothers for hours to unlock all the characters and shit can't be topped. 9.5/10. Sakurai has outdone himself. So glad he's taking a break lol he deserves it.

I coach a smash E-Sports team so this will always have a special place in my heart. It's truly amazing how this game is drasticly more open and fluid in the gameplay than any other fighting game, yet still maintains the technical percision to make it a compelling, competitive experiance. Smash ultimate is a masterclass of how to redefine a genra, and the better I get the more I realise what a marvel this game is.
