Summary

Luigi is back on a mission to remove a bunch of stubborn ghosts from some spooky mansions. Armed with his trusty Poltergust ghost-sucking vacuum cleaner, Mario's brother takes center stage to capture these pesky phantoms. Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon gives players multiple mansions to explore, a variety of puzzles to solve and new ghosts to capture. Armed with the Poltergust 5000, a ghost-sucking, vacuum-like invention, Luigi must complete a number of missions assigned to him by Professor E. Gadd.

People say that the first is better. Idk. I like the phantom doggo.

This was so good, that I didn’t want to complete this game when I was at the end 😭.
This game is fantastic and very charming and funny. It’s not trying to be the best game in the world and I love it for that, it has its own lane and it takes responsibility of letting you know that it’s just incredible. Really great game, I do recommend it!

I don’t remember much of this game as I played it on my 3DS when I was a kid but hoping to revisit in the future! The story was pretty cool and I remember finding the dark moon pieces throughout each mansion. Saving Mario as Luigi is a classic twist on the Mario series only available in this franchise. The polterpup was also introduced in this game - love him he’s the best.

As a person who has played the first game multiple times through and loved it I was expecting the same fast paced exploration style game to which i feel very disappointed.

While the game features the same premise of searching through mansions it hosts missions that keep you connected to the professors lab and forces you there. This way each mansion is broken up into at least 5 short sections which feel too short to me. This style of play using missions gives you a purpose other than exploration which in a way is good and provides puzzles but also forces your hand on what you can do and what you need to complete.

Which brings me to my next issue that the game itself spikes in difficulty. Some times you will be facing three very tough ghosts or puzzles with no explanation or suggestive help and other times you will face walking over something using the ds to physically move and balance which again comes with no helpful hints or explanations.

Over all the game while following the same mansion exploring premise falls far short of my expectations. While the game uses lovely graphics and the same fun sound effects it forces exploration in certain areas to complete missions which are again forced upon you. At the end of each mission you are forced back to a lab rather than being able to finish exploring which means you often miss drops such as health or money. The game also features puzzles that vary too much in difficulty and can be quite demotivating when you struggle to solve them.

While this game is fun and addictive it forces your hand and often has highly peaked difficult sections that ruin the immersion. It is far from the original game in a negative way.
