Fire Emblem: The Dark Dragon and Sword of Light is the first game in the Fire Emblem series, developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It was first released on the Famicom (known internationally as the Nintendo Entertainment System) on April 20, 1990. It takes place on the continent of Archanea. It stars Marth, a character who later appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The first time the game was released outside of Japan was in the form of a limited edition port for Nintendo Switch, under the same name, that runs a localization script in the background, but the original version of the game was never released outside of Japan.
Marth is prince of Altea and a direct descendant of Anri, the warrior who slew the shadow dragon Medeus. However, after an attack from the neighboring kingdom of Dolhr, Marth is forced to become an exile in the neighboring nation of Talis. His sister Ellis is taken hostage after his father is killed battling the evil priest Gharnef. With the help of the Altean knight Jagen, the Talisian Princess Caeda, and others, Marth embarks on a quest to find the sacred sword known as Falchion and the Fire Emblem that will allow him to wield it. Only then will he be able to confront Gharnef and the resurrected Medeus, win the kingdom of Altea back, and rescue his sister.

I wonder how the series got so popular with such a terrible start.
This game cames out in 1990 but looks, sounds and plays like an early 80s game with a boring and extremely slow gameplay which only revolves around terrible RNG.
I get that they were trying to get a different type of jrpg on the market and it surely did pay out in the long term, but this game is just so slow, unecessary long, full of bugs and boring that I couldn't even bring myself to finish all the 25 chapters.
