Summary

Doom Classic is a sci-fi first-person shooter game developed by id Software and Nerve Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is an updated version of the original 1993 Doom that uses the Unity engine as a shell for the id Tech 1 engine. This game, as well as Doom II Classic, was initially released in a suite of classic Doom ports for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, however, the ports were initially heavily criticized due to its poor quality and inaccuracies compared to the previous console generation ports while implementing an always-online DRM that required the player to sign into a Bethesda.net account (meant to unlock Slayers Club rewards) to play the game, despite these ports not having any online multiplayer features. After the initial criticism of the ports, Nerve Software eventually rectified the issues of the log-in requirements and problems with the ports through patches. A PC version of Doom Classic was released through Bethesda.net on January 9, 2020, which was later re-released through Steam on September 3, 2020 as a free update to existing owners of The Ultimate Doom.

Fun game that changed the gaming industry when it released, no denying it.

amazing gameplay that's still holds great till this day, I enjoyed how the movement is fast and floaty and the gunplay is still fantastic (other then the damn pistol) with iconic tracks that sets the mood of each level pretty good, fast paced and action filled or more atmospherics and mody but I didn't like that every time you die you back only with pistol so unless you doing some sort of challenge saving and loading often is your best approach

as for the levels they are very memorable with interconnected paths, dozens of secrets to find and impressive use of lighting that gave a great atmosphere to the to them considering the time the game was released

I heard a lot about about the levels as being confusing and players losing there way in them before I played the game and while I didn't face this problem other then few and far between the later chapters do feel a bit grander where you wonder around a bit before finding your way out but like a puzzle once you are familiar with the layout it's easier to pass by but yes some levels more often in the later chapters do take some time to figure out,

some might consider the graphics outdated but they do have a charm to them and capture the game aesthetic pretty good but one thing that there is no debate on is the iconic designs from the weapons and sensory and maps to the enemies, and talking about the enemies there is a good mix here not a large pool but enough to keep things going mixed with the different environments and levels you fight them in

the plot rather simple but effective and I love the in cutscene\images that show towards the end my only compliant could be that the end didn't feel as epic as some encounters in the earlier chapters like the first fight with cyberdemon (my fav)

overall doom is more then worth playing till this day , very fun with fantastic gameplay and altough sometimes grindy but very memorable levels with awesome atheistic, iconic music and general visual design
