F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the sequel to F.E.A.R. and continues the series' trademark blend of supernatural horror and suspense. Many mechanics from the original first-person shooter have made their way into the game, like slow motion bullet time, and intelligent AI. New gameplay elements have also been introduced, like grab and drag movable cover, combat mechs, and iron sight aiming. The environments are now more open and less linear than those in the first game, and are also more diverse.
You are Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator who has been sent on a mission to arrest Armacham president Genevieve Aristide approximately 30 minutes before the ending of the first game. The story only takes the original game into account and ignores all events from the expansion packs Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate.
As a teenager, this was the game that made me sleepless for nights,it was my first personal terrifying experience.
I still remember the day I borrowed my friend's Core2Duo acer laptop to play this gem and never finished it just because it was really scary even without headphones.
ALMA in FEAR 2 is truly horrifying to this day in my books.
Creating this horrifying woman alone is a masterpiece that I couldn't think of anyone else besides LAURA from evil within.
Idk why this is not popular in survival horror series but man this is some top tier horror I have ever experienced just for the psychotic level design.
Playing this in hard mode for the third time now, recently played TREPANG which is a spiritual successor of this series and it was a BANGER that made me dive back to this gem and give a review.
Just wow
I gotta say this is a magnificent game that still gives me goosebumps to this day.
MONOLITH created a perfect mixture of FPS reflex time mechanics with unique horror twist much better from the Original.
The REFLEX system with weapons and grenade variants works beautifully when you slow down time,it's highly replayable.
Difficulty on hard mode with enemy AI is very well done but they still suck since you have the reflex ability, not the robots.
Yes this game has robots and they are freaking gruesome.
The fact that you can slow down time when
getting jumpscares is funny.
Atmosphere changes from time to time and it will keep you on your toes and send you shivers down the spine.
A psychotic nightmare and then raging towards enemies by slaying them in slow paced,it's the great culmination.
The Hospital Level alone is the best I can think of, it was Original.
This game is silent in sound design with pure loneliness but it will hint you to be ready whenever something appears.
Graphics and visuals are pretty good and haven't aged.
The story is meh but not that bad ,they put some good effort into it which works great considering this is a horror fps.
Have you ever wondered an antagonist obsessed with the protagonist, well this is the game.
Fear 1 is great but this one is cherry on the cake which will be always personal to me.
It was an innovative masterpiece back in 2009 that still holds up in my horror library.
ALMA still gives me Insomnia.
