When I started thus game I was briefly higher on it than I expected- higher on it than I even was on the previous 2.

No fuck off this game sucks dick.

Yes part of it was emulating it but the game just does not hold up. Not just technologicaly either. The level and map design is poor, finicky and uninspired. Missions are boring and repetitive. Shooting is floaty, inprecise and uncomfortable. The game is not fun.

And the story is shit too. It briefly BRIEFLY manages to be more interesting. I think what I've realized is that, at least in the WW2 game era, the only portions of CoD campaigns allowed to be interesting are the Russian sections because the developers are far less afraid to depict them as savage or violent, and war as a whole as purely non-glamorous. There's an anger, a rage in the Russian campaign that is pervasive and surprisingly effective (to a degree).

After that it becomes boring mindless sanctimonious schlock again, patting itself on the back for depicting the infantry of African American soldiers who got to "prove themselves" in the theater of war. CoD really loves the theater of war. Duh.

Starts good at the beginning then gets repetitive in the final chapters. Not the best controls.

It was very suprising realizing how different this game feels from the original, a lot more animation of a much better quality. I had a rather good time for the first campaign, enjoyed my time. It's kind of generic but for what it is I enjoyed it! Up until the last few levels of the eastern front where the tank sections had very few checkpoints, which grew rather frustrating during the final russian missions, leaving with a bit of a sour taste. The second campaign was the one I was looking forward to the most because it's not very often ww2-games (at least the ones I've played) are set in northern africa, but these levels had the worst design and gameplay and was generally bad. The enemy placement and checkpoint system and some sections didn't feel thought through at all. I really hated some of those levels. The final campaign was cut short, because of a bug that made it physically impossible to progress, so I can't say much about it. I probably have to finish both the previous campaigns AGAIN if I want to continue, but I will not do that now. I'll mark this as beaten because I finished all I could, while maybe returning in a few years to see if I can beat the whole thing.

Finest hour - at times - is less solid and felt slightly more rushed than the first installment, but has more immersion and better animation and almost felt more related to the second game in a lot of ways. But it was fun, maybe even slightly more fun than the first game up until the british campaign. I'll give it a 6 because it was okay and enjoyable, but only the first third or so, which is not enough for a better score.
