Summary

19XX: The War Against Destiny is a vertical scrolling shooter arcade game made by Capcom in 1995 (copyrighted in 1996). The game is the 4th of a series of World War II vertical shooters made by Capcom. The story takes place before a fictional war (Hence, the 19XX) as a lone pilot tries to defeat an entire army/evil organization from starting another World War, which soon escalates to a nuclear apocalypse.

19XX: The War Against Destiny, is part of Capcoms 1942 series of schmups. This is an excellent addition to the series, bringing together the cool sci-fi and WWII aesthetics the makes the series so influential, and topping it up to max. The combat here is fun, with an area bomb that clears projectiles and damages enemies, along with your regular weapons and a homing version that is chargeable. I love the backdrops and enemies in this game, much like I did in 1941, but this one improves on the design and graphics quite a bit. Enemies and bosses have interesting attacks, and make the game fun and challenging. This is a really enjoyable schmup, and one of the best Capcom schmups I have played so far. Solid 9/10
