Summary

Ys V: Kefin, The Lost City of Sand is the fifth game of the series. It was released for Snes in 1995. A remake was released for PS2 in 2006. Adol is travelling through new lands, in search of more adventure, when he hears of the vanished desert city of Kefin. He sets off to investigate this ancient city's disappearance. The RPG-style statistical elements and the overhead view of most of the previous games are retained in Ys V. As in Ys III, there is no auto-attack; the player must press a button to swing Adol's sword. Adol is also given the ability to jump and defend with his shield. A new magic system is introduced in Ys V as well, which requires the player to charge up spells by holding a button before they can be cast.

A fun action RPG for the SFAM system.
If you are an Ys veteran, you may be disappointed in a much slower combat system and much easier difficulty.
Gameplay is almost more like a Legend of Zelda title with RPG elements (and less puzzle solving).
Gameplay is still fun, with a solid story, characters, and music.

It's okay. The combat's simple with a magic system that's really cool on paper, the soundtrack is good (but struggles as game music since the songs have long beginnings), and the story is serviceable. Glad to have played it since I'm a fan of the old Ys games, but not one I want to revisit.

It is ok ok experience. Graphics are good, it's the gameplay which especially magic use is weird. Story is fine, world is good but it's gameplay which tick you off.
