Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate

Took me a little while to get into this one, but once I did, I quite enjoyed it. The character artworks are cool, the voice-acting is a nice touch, and it's a good enough story that doesn't drag on and take too much away from the roguelike gameplay. The turtles all feel true to their iconic personalities as well.

The gameplay is quite basic though, only ever really alternating between the dodge and attack button, which you can just hold for ongoing attacks. Using the special and tool moves are good, but they never feel necessary. The most strategy you'll implement is in which randomised buffs you choose to determine your build for a specific run, but after a few runs you can permanently power yourself up for it not to matter so much. I'm not knocking the ease of the game, I actually enjoyed it for this reason since it wasn't too difficult, but some more variation in gameplay and enemies and buffs would have been cool and kept me playing.

The one disappointment is the story's conclusion. It takes eight successful runs to complete the story, and once you do it once, it's quite easy to repeat it. I beat Shredder the first time I reached him (he's the easiest of the bosses since he's very easy to dodge) and I never lost a run after that point, even with a few gauntlet and power portals thrown in. The story, however, ultimately remains unresolved. Without giving spoilers away, the game builds up a mystery but never pays it off by revealing it. It looks like the roadmap plan might be to do this in future DLC, but if the core game's story can't stand on it's own, then it's pretty disappointing, especially if the DLC isn't free. Putting the real conclusion to the game behind a pay-wall seems like a cheap way to make a buck, and I'm not sure I'll support it.

Other than that, it's a fun game to play, and a cool way to drop into the world of TMNT.

Really nice twist for rogue likes. Playing with friends is also really fun. A bit glitchy and repetitive at times. But really fun!

Fiz uma run até o final hoje e sinceramente, até conseguir terminar a primeira vez foi muita legal ver a diferença das tartarugas e ir evoluinfo, vou continuar jogando pra pegar o final verdadeiro!

Jogo fácil, porém muito divertido. Um jogo para quem ficou órfão de Hades... Sério, tem tudo que hades trouxe de inovação, copiado, porém bem feito! Recomendo que joguem e arrisquem nas combinações, assim iram se divertir muito mais!
