Summary

Mr. X and the Syndicate are back, this time taking Adam hostage! Take on the role of Axel, Blaze, Skate, or Max to rescue Adam, and destroy Mr. X once and for all.

This game is pure awesomeness! My favorite Beat ‘Em Up for the Sega Genesis. Great music, great boss battles, and a ton of fun with a second player.

One of my favourite beat em up games, only the soundtrack is enough to get you into this game

banger after banger song from start to end making this one of the best soundtracks in gaming and while the original is no slouch in looks this is a big improvement in the spirit work, the characters and environments are much more detailed add to that a gameplay that is just as good and you have a game that sounds, looks and plays great

the special moves are a Huge addition and while I was not a big fan of giving up health to preforme them in a game like this (thus I might like the original special a tiny bit more) they do add a strategic element to the game and a lot more variety to the fights so they did grow on me and I don't mind them as I did initially

the differences between the characters are much more noticable when it comes to movement, speed and fighting style..ect something isn't as clear in the previous entry adding great reply value to the game and making each playthrough a bit different with each one

and while some sections have a sudden difficulty spike and some bosses are more annoying then challenging they are definitely passable (nothing can stand in the face of the Ground Upper)

overall streets of rage 2 is still one of the best beat em ups you can play till this day and one of the best in the genre history.

Streets of Rage 2 is the second in an excellent series of beat em' ups, following a group of four characters that are aetring out to rescue their kidnapped friend. You move through eight interesting stages, fighting street punks, ninjas, motorcycle gangs and fantastical monsters, to name just a few foes, to square off against Mr. X himself, and rescue your friend.

This game isn't fun for the plot, however. The brawling is tight, with some interesting moves, but more importantly to me, some interesting bosses, enemies, and locations. The pixel art here is great, with a gritty, dystopic neo-future world dripping with classic arcade style. Gameplay-wise, this one is a blast. I love sitting down to play through this one over its 2 hour or so playtime. I played this on the Sega Genisis emulator on Nintendo Switch Online, and the save state function makes this more accessible than ever, allowing you to rest your tired hands, or pause to proceed with life.

All in all, this one is solid, and well regarded as an excellent classic beat em' up. 8/10 (Excellent!)
