Star Wars: Episode I - Jedi Power Battles

I'm hard pressed to call this a "good game" but man did I have a blast. I grew up playing this and I have a lot of nostalgia for it. And this remaster is cool because it is a remaster of the Dreamcast version, which apparently is better than the PS1 that I played. However, it still maintains the very much busted aspect of the early version and I think it's great for that.

If you have nostalgia for the licensed games from the Playstation 1 era, this will get you your fix, I picked it up for 15$ with a discount on humble bundle membership and I think that is a good price point for a 4 hour nostalgia experience!

No music, bare bones gameplay, no exposition, a soulless cash grab hack and slash with no purpose, the remastered does nothing for it.

No game has been a stronger case of “nostalgia glasses” for me than Jedi Power Battles. You start to get the sense you’re incredibly wrong when everyone you talk to about it hates it, but seeing it here, in the form of a decent remake really drives the point home. It’s a messy and weird beat em up experiment. Nothing about it feels good other than deflecting blasters back at droids (which was surely cool in the 90s), and it’s just kinda boring. I guess I was just happy I got to play as Plo Koon, with his yellow lightsaber to boot. Still, the characters they added are a super nice touch, so I’ll probably end up beating it a few times.
