Star Ocean: The Second Story R

My first SO game, good idea for them to have a new remake of one of the fan favorites ones after the 6th one came and went a year prior 😅

Super fun gameplay, story is fine, VA is a mixed bag but overall really enjoyed it! SO3 3D-2D when?

Beautiful but, tedious and impractical battle system with so much information on the general mechanics of the game from the start that makes it extremely overwhelming. Pity that I couldn’t continue it. Mainly cause of the battle system. You get used to other game mechanics and item management over time, but the battles were unbearable for me. If it was a lot simpler and practical it would be a great game with a good role playing story that I would play.

What a beautiful game. Gameplay is fun and simple. RPG elements are complex can be tiresome to follow in the menus. Soundtrack is good as expected from SE. Story is decent and the characters are well written.

Man this is one in depth game. Starts out super simple. Till you start leveling skills and what not . Honestly there is a ton of depth to this one and the battles are actually fun. Do get a little stale from time to time but better than turn based.

I have finished my 1st play-through with Claude. I am going to do Rena's route for my 2nd play-through. The game is very well made, I love the art style and the QOL features that have been added. This is definitely the definitive way to play this game. I would highly recommend this to my fellow RPG enthusiasts.
