Summary

The third DLC for Resident Evil 7. It features the character that introduces himself as Chris Redfield at the end of the main story. "Not a Hero is a little different from the nightmare suffered by Ethan in RE7's main game. Chris has the skills, and the firepower, to get the job done. Do you have what it takes to complete the mission?"

Pretty good dlc. This one is for action shooters fans. You play as returning Chris Redfield and you have to take down the last remaining Baker,Lucas. It was a short dlc, mostly action focused. Some enemies can only be killed by certain ammos, veapon variety is limited, loved the oxygen system, night vision system and everything in between. Now I'm definetly checking out the rest of dlc's,but only when they go on sale again. It's very expensive. Not feeling like giving 30$ for season pass.I will patiently wait instead

Not a Hero is a satisfying additional conclusion to an already great experience that is RE7 that attempts to bring back the classic feel of previous entries with the help of Chris Redfield in the new protagonist role.

It's a free story DLC, so obviously it wouldn't change the experience much. Visually speaking, it's reusing the same mines/lab we explored in RE7 but a different unexplored area of it, with what they have to work with. They do manage to make it interesting with an interconnected area that has three exploration paths; sadly, though, it's completely linear.

You are controlling Chris Redfield, and obviously he would possess better equipment as well as better/more accurate shooting mechanics. It does feel different enough from Ethan Winters; luckily, despite years of training, difficulty is still present, and new equipment is not OP. I enjoy the game progression with Chris acquiring new equipment that helps progress the new areas, although I want to question Chris why he didn't pick up a gas mask and night vision goggles while going to dark mines filled with BOWs, but that is besides the point. For what it is trying to achieve, it is a satisfying experience that also attempts to make use of item management and save systems despite its short, under two-hour length campaign, but it proves to be more useful in a hard mode run.

Story-wise, Chris decides to cut loose ends and go out tracking down Lucas Baker, revealing him to be a much bigger bad apple in the family than it initially seemed to be. It's an interesting tale and again makes use of Lucas's saw-inspired traps that do provide some good moments and surprisingly make a badass that is Chris extremely vulnerable. Though it again reuses the sole survivor trope Chris is now famous for, with the conclusion being an interesting setup of a mystery that even as of RE8 didn't go anywhere. I did enjoy what the story was going for, and I can fault it much due to it being a free-to-play experience.

To sum up, Not a Hero is a solid story DLC that is worth experiencing after the completion of RE7, especially since it's a free experience.

Short 2-hour DLC. Felt kind of unnecessary and barely offered anything new after the main game. Free extra content is still nothing to complain about.

A nice epilogue that ends with the last Baker standing. It's time for the expert to end it all. I gotta give it to Ethan Winters though. I just realized how that man may be an idiot but he sure is courageous and smart trying to save Mia and Zoe.
