Pokémon Colosseum

The Orre region provides such an interesting setup for a Pokemon game. Double Battles make it a unique play compared to other games, and its difficulty makes it feel like an actual adventure. Playing modern Pokemon makes me yearn for the originality of this classic spin-off.

Iconic Pokémon game. Very different to mainline games and very enjoyable. Completed in 2024.

The double battles were a nice touch. It's a shame you can't customise your character in any way though and you're stuck with Espeon and Umbreon as your initial mains. Every Shadow Pokemon you catch just uses Shadow Rush for a while until you unlock more moves and slowly purify them, so the gameplay is more repetitive than your average Pokemon game. It's a small world with little more than a half dozen areas, which you can smash through in about 20 hours or so, but there isn't a whole lot in the way of diverse things to do. It's just battle after battle. Love the concept of Shadow Pokemon, even though there are only about 40 in the whole game, but this didn't quite execute it well for me. Definitely wasn't worth it for me to do the postgame grind for Ho-Oh.

Enjoyable the first 15 mins, incredibly boring and repetitive after that

It was good for the time.
Certain limitations and workarounds, that's what I didn't like.
No wild Pokemon, capturing only dark pokemon, those things really killed my hype and ambition.
