Summary

Get behind the visor of intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in her critically-acclaimed first-person adventure. Step into the boots of Samus Aran as you navigate the winding paths and interconnected environments of an alluring-yet-dangerous alien planet. Use powers like the iconic Morph Ball and Grapple Beam to revisit hard-to-reach areas and find a path forward. With revamped graphics, sound, unlockable art, and updated control schemes, Samus’ 3D platforming debut has reached greater heights. Calm and capable, Samus takes on this solo mission...but she is far from alone.

There is a lot to love about this game but also a lot to hate.

I personally didn't enjoy excessively backtracking through a claustrophobic labyrinth with a confusing, mostly unhelpful holographic map and no clear direction (there is no way to leave markers at points of interest - I just had to memorise everything) while battling/slowly running away from frequently respawning enemies. I didn't like how sparse and easy to miss the checkpoints were, and I really despised the barely functional half-pipe sections…

But I still kinda like this game. Maybe I've been gaslit into thinking this game is good by all the glowing reviews and by my love for Metroid Dread. Maybe I have a case of Stockholm Syndrome.
I guess I did have a good time when I wasn't completely lost. I appreciated how cool it felt to be Samus in her hulking suit of armour and it was especially cool when I could see the reflection of her cold stare after exploding an enemy at point blank range.
The continuous stream of cool upgrades kept my dopamine levels just high enough to keep me playing, as did the cute little Zelda sound effect when I solved a puzzle. And the combat was interesting - this is probably the most unique first-person shooter I've ever played.

With all that being said, I'm keen to move on to something less stressful and frustrating, such as playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver.

Having only played the remastered I can say this holds up in my eyes. I appreciated the atmosphere, with great music and a LOT of attention to detail. It is clear that a lot of thought went into the smallest details here, with every climate affecting the visor, the way samus' arm cannon morths with each different mode etc...
I got frustrated whenever I had to wait for a hint on where to go next when as far as I could tell there was no organicway of knowing where the next objective would be. Not a bad game just not too exciting to play.

Really cool game. Dragged on a little bit but with some walkthroughs it was overall a cool game

What an excellent game! Loved the gameplay as well as the visuals. Initally hated the map but it grew on me. Completed on normal difficulty. Not a single glitch from start to finish. Never played the original but definately will be getting original trilogy on Wii.
