okay but is there any need for that loud ass gun shot intro?

I like it because of the great atmosphere. It ia very mafia 1 like and to so similar to 3. There is belivable city and excelent representation of the 40s era. Also like story telling and slow and reallistic driving mechanics. Very various missions from ww2 shooting, to beaing in jail. Dont like aiming and shooting to much. And there are bugs especially on ps5, some textuers poping up.

A solid story saves a pretty formulaic third person action game

Empire Bay feels exactly the same as Lost Haven from the first game. There was no sense that time had passed since the first game either.

Thankfully some good standalone chapters add some more to the game.

The DLC added little, except the remind you how important cut scenes in this game are. The DLC had next to none, so the game felt even more boring and repetitive.

~ the story was alright. it's more of a fun goofy story that at times tries to be more than that but mostly doesn't do it very well. i don't have strong feelings about it, and since it was the main focus of the game (even more than gameplay), it just wasn't enough for me to call it a 'good' game overall.

~ the gameplay feels so much more outdated than the graphics. the guns feel stiff and terrible to use, the combat is as hollow and clumsy as it gets, stealth is almost nonexistent, movement is clunky, levels are meh, ect. the only part of the gameplay that's actually pretty decent are the cars. tho it's in dire need for fast travel.

~ some of my biggest complaints are how parkour isn't automated in sprint, how in most levels you can't sprint, and how your head takes up half the camera in tight areas/indoor.

~ the levels feels, merely OK, like it exists, it's not BAD (with a few exceptions), but it doesn't do anything special neither. there's just not much to say about it.

~ tho the open world looks nice as a the background environment for the narrative, outside of that there is literally NOTHING to do in it. NOTHING. that and a total lack of dynamic things happening makes the world feel empty, hollow, and fake, in a way.

~ it's stylish, and good looking. the environments are pretty nicely crafted and specially when it's raining or snowy, it looks beautiful and atmospheric. the reamster tho, is a lazy one. it's even lost some details at parts.

~ it CONSTANTLY drops frames like crazy, specially while driving. so much so that the game ran on 10~ fps more than it did on 30. it's very unacceptable for a game this old, specially a remaster at that.
the checkpoints are also whether nonexistent or SO frustratingly far apart. i had to replay a chapter all over again, 8 FUCKING TIMES! just because the stupid floors would say "nuh-uh" and turn into an endless void, over and over again. it's a bit of a hot mess.

~ the magazines are noice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ), BUT i hate that they're all missable.
the wanted posters are cool too, since they're the devs, but there's WAY too many of em. absolutely stopped me from going for the platinum.

~ most can be done without much of a pain thanks to the chapter select (tho it really should've had been freeroamable after the story.), but it has some stupid trophies. and to top it off it requires a playthrough on hard. and i just really don't think I'd have fun replaying this game, specially with them nonexistent checkpoints.

𐄁 Do i recommend this game? tho it's got many falws and doesn't really peak in many aspects, i think it deserves a visit. specially if you're into the 40/50s era.
𐄁 Did it make me take my time with it? there's not really much to take your time with.
𐄁 Did it meet my expectations? yesn't. maybe I'm being too harsh, but it's honestly a bit overrated.

It's a good game, but it's very dated. They really should have made a proper Remake of this. I think, as characters, I prefer the original three over Vito, Joe, and Henry. But given that still, I did like the dynamics developed inbetween the characters. Vito is just so much more stale compared to Tommy Angelo. There's also just way too much going back and forth between missions - a lot of it could have easily been cut. But anyway, this deserves a proper Mafia 1 style Remake
