Summary

Gorogoa is a beautiful hand-drawn story suspended inside a completely unique puzzle. Arrange and combine lavishly illustrated panels, each one a separate interactive window into a living game world.

Loved the concept 😁

The ability to make your audience feel things (even when you are aware that getting the full story might not be possible in one playthrough) in less than two hours is what I always adored about indie games like this. Aside from being visually pleasing and "rusty lake" type surreal puzzles, this game has its fresh ways of storytelling.
Although i have my own problems with this like its unnecessary short playtime and the predictability of some puzzles, I am always open to experiencing indie games in one sitting.

Gorogoa is an interesting puzzle game that features some quite fun mechanics. Puzzles are based on finding areas of a square that can be zoomed in on, and matched up in different ways. The game focuses on a young man who is attempting to offer coloured orbs to a diety, and the game's story and puzzle pieces enter a multi-dimensional phase which is really cool, and sometimes quite mind blowing to behold.

Gameplay is straightforward in a sense, as you are looking to essentially match tiles to encourage traversal, but the way this can happen is quite interesting, and sometimes complex. Visually, the game is stunning, with beautiful tiles, artwork and moments in the game. The music is also quite nice, without being a stand out in the game.

Positives:
+incredible and engaging puzzles
+stunning artwork
+interesting and novel mechanics

Detractions
-a tad short
-music was good, but with the quality of the rest of the game, could have been even better

All in all, this was a really fun and engaging puzzle game that I quite enjoyed my time with. My detractions felt small in comparison to the rest of the game. This feels like a mighty puzzle game, and one of the best I have played in recent memory. Solid 8.5/10 rating, an incredible example of its genre.

Beautiful, that's art. I would have preferred a larger or deeper story. I can't wait for the next game from Buried Signal! Every chapter felt fresh, challenging but intuitive.

A beautiful point and click experience, that displays the journey of person. Because it has no spoken or written content it is very open to interpretation, but to me it displays devotion and believe in a beautiful artistic exploration.

It has calming music and wonderful art provides a touching experience with simple, but enjoyable puzzles.

What really made me feel disconnected at times, is als an interesting quality. The game mechanic relies on zoom and in out and the typical point and click. Both rather common. But your multiple viewpoint is restricted to a comic-like 4 panels, that can be moved around. While this is interesting, it also creates a lot of empty space that is never explored by breaking through the panels and caused some impactful visuals not delivering as intensly.
