Summary

The Iki Island expansion pack comes with a new story, new characters, new environments to explore, new armour for Jin and his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, among other additions. Sucker Punch has also added new animals that Jin can pet.

Some of the best duels in the game and the scenery is beautiful too, just a weaker story than the main game

Awesome DLC to an awesome game.

The story almost felt like an extension to the main game rather than a stapled on disconnected bonus adventure, the only problem is the DLC story can be started very early in the game (Act 2) so very little of the main game's story post Act 2 is mentioned in the main game's story. Although the DLC makes up for this, depending on how far you are in the main story the DLC will add references to these events to the dialogue.

I would have liked to see more of the main story's cast of characters return, particularly Yuna, but the new characters are good, it will be interesting to see more of them in future installments to the franchise. Jin also gets some further character development with his relationship with Iki and by extension his father's death.

Honestly it's a very good addition to the game and I love it.

Perfect expansion, somehow a better conclusion to the actual base game. Added enough to make you feel satisfied and excited by reigniting what I loved from the base game.

God I hope Yotei will be another core installment to me.

Well...first thing I need to say is that this DLC feels like Ubisoft game - you have daddy issues, tons of question marks on the map, story line predictable from miles away and game breaking bugs (mind that I played on PC and I believe that PS has way better experience) but somehow it's still fun...

First to negatives:
As I mentioned above the story line doesn't bring anything new. Every 'plot twist' the game tried to pull was obvious at least one mission before...
Jin and his constant whining about his father gets annoying very quickly.
You even get a new type of mini games where you need to follow a line with your mouse/gamepad stick so Jin can play a song - unbelievably annoying for me as gamepad is useless for this...so as for the main game I needed to have mouse+ keyboard and gamepad combo all the time.
But all those things I could forgive but the bugs??? Oh god...at one mission my cutscenes bugged so I always saw just black screen for a second and then suddenly I was playing again. Another thing that pissed me off the most and that is the reason I'm giving this DLC only 6 is that during every single fight I lost sound. It also made me realize how much I rely on sound during fighting 😅 ...given the fact you need to listen to know when the archers are shooting this was very very annoying plus the fact that without the sound it's very hard to localize shamans wasn't helping either.

To the nice things:
the game is still stunning, the characters are likable, the side quests are fun...
They even added a few new Mongol types so that was awesome.
Also no matter how predictable the story is it was nice to find out some more about Jin and his father's relationship

I think this is where the game truly show it self. It has some new abilities, enemies ect. But what truly got is the map. It's small, but in this case it's a good thing, because you don't have to use the fast travel system, and can explore the whole island.
