I haven't actually played the original DMC but I did want to talk about the anime. It's pretty fun, except for that episode where I nearly cried. Capcom and Netflix picked the right team of people to translate this video game into a TV show. Adi Shankar, the creator, has produced other awesome anime with incredibly energetic and creative fight scenes like Castlevania and Captain Laserhawk (which no one has heard of but I would strongly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of Ubisoft series like Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Beyond Good & Evil etc. Maybe stay away from it if you are overly attached to Rayman's character though 😂). Adi has a great track record, but he can seem a bit full of himself, like when he cast himself as the live action version of Captain Laserhawk in that one episode. Like bro, you are talented but you're not him 😆.
The animation for Devil May Cry is noticeably cheap in a few scenes which was a little disappointing but they probably had to save money for the fantastic soundtrack. The licensed music just perfectly captures the tone and feeling of the game while making their target audience feel incredibly nostalgic. These songs were awesome when they first came out, and then we started liking them ironically, and now we have come full circle because the songs are legit bangers again. Story wise, it feels a little rushed, but that also means I never had a chance to become bored. The villain's evil plot became overly complicated and started to make little sense considering his motivations but I guess that can be excused because he's a little crazy, I guess. Overall, it was a good time, and it probably would've stuck with me more if I had actually played the original games 😅.
