Summary

Dear Esther: Landmark Edition has been remade with the Unity engine, featuring a full audio remaster, and the addition of a brand-new Directors' Commentary mode, allowing players to explore the island and learn what inspired the game and how it was crafted by The Chinese Room and Rob Briscoe. Dear Esther immerses you in a stunningly realised world, a remote and desolate island somewhere in the outer Hebrides. As you step forwards, a voice begins to read fragments of a letter: 'Dear Esther...' - and so begins a journey through one of the most original first-person games of recent years.

Gorgeous looking game with amazing music...but not much else. I've played narrative games and "walking Simultors" before and enjoyed them but this doesn't have much besides a beautiful setting.
I found the narration too sparse and the prose too purple. Plus the walking speed is soon veeerry sllooow.

A rather boring walking simulator. You can't literally do anything else but walk around (not even run or jump) and listen to the character's inner monologue. There were parts I enjoyed, but overall Dear Esther was just forgettable and felt like a chore.

Just walk. Minimalistic, sattle design choices still makes it impressive looking game in ''24, pleasing to just walk.

It is a good and short experiencie. A really intriguing story and beatiful landscapes although it is a bit too expensive for its short duration.

Walking simulator before existence of deaths stranding.
Beautiful soundtracks and atmosphere
But anything else about this game is meh.
There's nothing to interact with or slow game speed and lack of any kind of gameplay.... Only walking.

While to many people, this is nothing more than a walking simulator, I thought that the environments combined with the music and storytelling make for a unique and compelling story of loss and regret. It's a super short game that is on sale most of the time, so I'd recommend somebody plays it at least once.
