The tutorial teases an exciting heist mechanic centered around stealth, which initially got me excited as it felt like something fresh. However, the focus quickly shifts to turf wars and large-scale shootouts, making it difficult to give a clear identity to this game.
That said, the combat is surprisingly solid, arguably even better than Payday. But once your heat level hits its peak, the game becomes overwhelmingly chaotic, and escape feels nearly impossible. I suspect this is intentional, a way to cover up the lack of polish, especially in the AI enemies.
Visually, the game perfectly captures the 80s vibe. The neon signs, beachfront hotels, classic cars, and cheesy movie one-liners all bring the era to life. It’s just a shame that the gameplay doesn’t live up to the quality of the aesthetics.
