Step into the shadows of the deadliest dwelling on earth. You've arrived at Castlevania, and you're here on business: To destroy forever the Curse of the Evil Count. Unfortunately, everybody's home this evening. Bats, ghosts, every kind of creature you can imagine. You'll find 'em all over the place, if they don't find you first. Because you've got to get through six monstrous floors before you even meet up with the Master of the House. Your Magic Whip will help, and you'll probably find a weapons or two along the way. But once you make it to the tower, you can count on a Duel to the Death. The Count has waited 100 years for a rematch.

This game is known for its extreme difficulty. The first levels are not super stressful but the game‘s difficulty spikes pretty quickly at around level 4. Thankfully you do have unlimited continues and plenty of checkpoints. And if you're a little emulating cheat because you refuse to contribute to capitalism you got save states. Yes I see you.😐😐😐 Don't look at me like that lmao.
Anywho. Each level has 3 checkpoints and there are 7 levels. When you die you spawn at the last checkpoint but when you continue you spawn at the beginning of the level which doesnt sound super fair specially to a bitch like me who has 0 talent when it comes to being patient. Some parts of the game have so many enemies and traps coming at you at once that at first beating the game may seem impossible, but trust me if you keep going, learn the stages and enemy patterns (and cheat on the emulator ;) yes I still have beef with you) you will beat it.
So if you are patient you will eventually beat the game and trust me when I say that the game‘s difficulty only makes the feeling of beating it so much more rewarding are satisfying. Like this was the og Darksouls. The controls do not help with the difficulty. The whip has a delay and when you jump you cannot change direction in mid-air like in games such as Mega Man. Also, when you get hit you are knocked back a few steps which might land you in unfortunate situations. You get to also use weapons like guns.
The game’s visuals stand out. The Colors really compliment this pixelated nightmare of a game unlike most NES games. The soundtrack is also godly tier.
Overall this game is very good, it has everything. But it is not 100% perfect. It could have had more levels, it could have more hit songs but still that is kinda unfair to say considering the time the game was made. And maybe it could have been easier so emulator players wont have to cheat but like I doubt Konami would know emulators existed back in the 80s
