Summary

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes immerses you in 1898 London as you conduct an incredible investigation. All the evidence suggests our hero is the main suspect in a case involving theft, fraud and double-crossings. Unable to prove his own innocence, Holmes is rapidly losing London's trust as doubt spreads through the city like wildfire. Even Doctor Watson's faith in his friend begins to waver, as the famous detective flees Scotland Yard and raises further suspicion; prowling around at night, destruction of evidence... would Holmes go so far as to commit murder? The complex and decidedly-mature storyline surrounds a particularly tricky investigation, in which each and every puzzle will challenge both insight and wits! As Sherlock Holmes, you will use the detective's full repertoire: handle and inspect clues, reenact crimes and use the game's new deduction system to draw your own conclusions. Choose your questioning approach to catch characters off guard and gather valuable information. Face an open investigation, and decide which leads to follow and which to ignore.

Although this is an earlier SH from the Frogwares series, I played it 2nd. The difference between the 1st & 2nd games is gigantic. This game is infuriatingly clunky. That said, there is so much macabre drama to occupy you, you'll put up with it. The story was interesting, love the voice acting and the puzzles were good. Definitely worth a play but I'm really glad they ironed out the problems with it in the later ones. Will probably give the earlier ones a go too

If you've played any other Sherlock Holmes games prior to this, then imagine something similar but also better... but also worse. The gameplay mechanics are the same. Walk around, talk to people, solve puzzles and come to conclusions (if it ain't broke, don't fix it right?). The story is also quite good and engaging, graphics hold up well considering this is almost a decade old game.
The game opens with a cutscene and without spoiling anything let me just say that it's the most horrendous opening cutscene I've ever seen in a video game.
and there's a bug that makes the game crash every single time the game try to autosave (and sometimes manual save). I've looked through some forums and it seems like this was an issue ever since 2017. Had to replay the same missions over and over again until I found a fix on the community hub.
HOWEVER, if you can sit through that opening scene and also apply that fix before playing then you'll enjoy this game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

Моя перша гра про Шерлока. В міру складна із цікавим сюжетом та хорошою подачею. Герої мають свої унікальні характери. Дуже сподобалась.
