In The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, you follow the story of Andrew and Ashley, siblings who have been quarantined in their house for months and are slowly starving to death. Everyone in the building appears to have contracted a contagious disease and are now locked in their apartments by armed guards. The guards do keep promising to bring food, but none ever comes, so eventually they have to resort to drastic measures.

Obviously I'm not comparing the books to the game, they're in completely different spheres of art, and yet they all share the common trait of being disregarded for their topics despite the fact that these 2 books are absolutely marvelous reads.
Having a controversial topic doesn't mean the creator is romanticizing it. Actually, if it seems that this creator is indeed doing so, not by the game, but by the update patch art they do, it's actually largely to piss people off on purpose since they have been getting witch-hunted for a while even before those.
Build your own opinion on all the media you encounter and either stay natural until you've tried it for yourself or shut up and don't talk about something you have no personal formed opinion of. And if you don't like said media even after experiencing it yourself, great, at least you formed your own opinion on it.
