Got the bad ending to get the good ending in the combined version
This one on its own is less enjoyable then sonic 3 just cause it's the ladder part of a sonic game and they always have wayy more bullshit in it

The 2nd half of Sonic 3 that elevates it to peak status. This is probably the best selection of Sonic levels you'll get in a 2D game until Mania released.
This combined with Sonic 3 is nearly a masterpiece.

This combined with Sonic 3 is the GOAT. The soundtrack is a banger in both Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Game also ends with an epic boss battle in the 2D Sonic series. And also not to mention the only game in the series so far that has Hyper Sonic you can unlock.
Game beaten on Sonic Origins for PS5.
