Summary

Saints Row takes place in the fictional city of Stilwater, where the main character is involved in a conflict between four rival gangs. Despite the protagonist's attempts to remain uninvolved, you are drawn into the conflict and become a member of the Third Street Saints. As the game progresses, you go to war with Los Carnales, the Westside Rollers, and the Vice Kings, gaining status within the gang and taking over the city in the process.

Played back in my teenage "X-BOX 360 Phase" [around 2006-08], this nostalgic piece >comedic value & RAW action< always reminded me of being the younger brother to the GTA series and only (respected) for those on a financial budget.

As I grew up, I rightfully discovered that this game is a timeless gem, and MANY communities agreed on this --- *SPOILER ALERT BELOW*

Positives: The Gameplay is solid. Shooting the guns and driving around feels smooth. I love the activities in the open world. Insurance Fraud, Mayhem, Escort, etc. All great activities to add some extra fun to this game. The story is pretty good. The characters all feel unique and have some good dialogue. Johnny Gat is easily the best character with some of the best lines. The visuals and environments are good. The world is pretty well detailed for the time it came out. The sound design is good as well. Everything sounds the way it should. The world is filled with satire that is fully aware of itself. With some of the dialogue the characters say to the name of notable locations in this game.

Negatives: This game desperately needed an autosave system, especially during missions. If you die during a mission you have to re-do the entire mission all over again which can be frustrating. The controls for shooting while driving suck. Since the accelerate and brake/reverse are on the A and X buttons (for Xbox) it makes it hard when you have to shoot with the trigger while also trying to aim with the right stick. It's impossible to shoot while holding the accelerate button at the same time. I tried to change these controls bit there is nothing that allows me to change it. I feel like the main character also needed to be fully voiced. Throughout most of the game the character is silent and the game does go over that, there are specific sections where the character had a voice and days lines. I get that the character is supposed to be you but with the other characters just talking at them the character really needed to be fully voiced. There were also graphical glitches on multiple occasions. The whole world would either not fully load in or would just straight up disappear, usually while you are driving.

Saints Row is a game that mostly still holds up to this day with missions, side activities, and satirical humor that offers a lot of fun.
