Pokemon Black 2 amd White 2 are the best games in the mainline pokemon series to this day. The story is the best a pokemon game has ever had, its hard without being unreasonable, and it has one of the best pokedex's to date. The first game I ever fell in love with.

I did not really care for this generation when it first came out. Upon returning to it in 2022 (and after playing many Pokémon games back-to-back, I found that I appreciated the world design and the new mechanics. And while the Pokémon in Unova are not my favorite overall, a few of them have grown on me. As part of the entire franchise, I really think this generation was a refreshing step in the right direction, with the introduction of animated sprites, a whole new 150+ Pokémon, and a region outside of Japan. This really rejuvenated the franchise and made it feel new. In comparison to its predecessor, however, I think I liked the first entry more. Of the changes introduced in 2, I really only liked the new gyms. Littering the region with older Pokémon, changing the route order, and rehashing the Team Plasma plot all made the game feel disjointed. I like the idea of creating direct sequels to the titles and would be interested if GameFreak went that direction instead of doing straight remakes.
